Dynamic Beating AI News Flash: NVIDIA will pay $6 billion to AI startup Poolside to obtain a non-exclusive license for its model development system, Model Factory. NVIDIA also plans to extend offers to the 109 employees involved in the Laguna model development.
The founding team of Poolside will remain, and the company will continue to operate independently. However, NVIDIA will gain access to this model development system and a group of core developers.
Poolside's Model Factory is an infrastructure for developing AI models, covering data processing, training, reinforcement learning, and evaluation processes. NVIDIA has essentially acquired an entire system for training models.
The $6 billion licensing fee will be distributed to Poolside investors, and NVIDIA will also provide an additional $1 billion investment. Poolside's pre-investment valuation is $12 billion.
This deal follows NVIDIA's approach with Groq and Enfabrica, acquiring key AI technology and talent into its own ecosystem through technical licensing, investment, and team recruitment.
