Guizhou Maotai's Stock Price Falls Below 1300 Yuan, Semi-Annual Net Profit Declines for the First Time in Years

BlockBeats News, August 17th. According to Bitget market data, the A-share liquor sector collectively opened lower, with Kweichow Moutai opening down by 3.9%, and the stock price falling below 1300 Chinese Yuan. On the fundamental side, China's Central Huijin Investment Ltd. and China Securities Finance Corporation have withdrawn from Kweichow Moutai's top ten shareholders, with the semi-annual report showing revenue growth without profit growth.

On the evening of August 14th, Kweichow Moutai disclosed in its 2026 interim report that Central Huijin Asset Management Co., Ltd. (Huijin) and China Securities Finance Corporation (CSF) had both exited the list of top ten shareholders. At the end of the first quarter, Huijin still held approximately 10.3971 million shares (0.83% of the total share capital, then the fifth largest shareholder), while CSF held about 4.0375 million shares (0.32%, the tenth largest shareholder). By the end of the second quarter, their holdings had fallen below the top ten threshold, with the tenth largest holding approximately 3.48 million shares, leading to their exit from the list.

Kweichow Moutai also disclosed its performance for the first half of the year: revenue of 90.703 billion Chinese Yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.47%. However, net profit attributable to the parent company was 44.517 billion Yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.95%, marking the first half-year net profit decline for Moutai in many years. The combination of the national team reducing its holdings and revenue growth without profit growth has led to today's stock price decline. It is worth noting that exiting the top ten shareholders does not necessarily mean a complete sell-off; the two may still hold a small number of shares, with the action seen more as a portfolio adjustment rather than a mere bearish view on Moutai.

Additionally, on August 13th, Duan Yongping posted on social media that he dared to hold Moutai and any domestic fund (following Buffett's original agreement) to gamble one billion Chinese Yuan, with a ten-year time limit. Duan Yongping stated: "The premise is that it must be agreed in advance that the winner will donate the money to an organization recognized by the other party. I will donate to the Step by Step Experimental School. There are too many details that I can't explain clearly. Unless a very credible organization can step in to do this. If both parties agree, the money will be donated first, and the loser will pay the winner after ten years."
