Musk Endorses Frontier Thesis: AI Agent Era's True Bottleneck Is Memory, Not Compute, "Few People Realize This"

According to Observatory Beating monitoring, Musk publicly endorsed the view of renowned futurist and XPRIZE founder Peter H. Diamandis: "Memory, not computation, is the rate-limiting factor of the agent era." Musk replied to this, saying, "Few people realize this."

The view pointed out that after the large-scale application of AI agents, long-term memory, context memory, and persistent memory capability will replace computing power as the true bottleneck. Even if the computing power is powerful enough, AI agents cannot effectively remember and recall information, limiting their utility. This assessment is in line with the fundamentals of the current storage race: HBM demand continues to outstrip supply, KV cache and context storage bursts are driving NAND and hard drive demand structurally, and memory is identified as one of the most scarce core links in the AI industry chain.
