The Japanese stock market retail investors are increasingly using leverage to participate in AI trading, with the amount of margin trading reaching the highest level since 2016.

BlockBeats News, August 13th. In the Japanese stock market, retail investors are accelerating their use of leverage to participate in AI trading. As of July, the total amount of individual investor leveraged margin trading in the Japanese stock market has reached ¥123 trillion (approximately RMB 10.9 trillion), doubling from the beginning of the year and hitting the highest level since 2016. In June, the scale of leveraged margin trading by Japanese individual investors hit a record high, and it continued to remain elevated in July. At the same time, the proportion of leveraged margin trading to the overall trading amount of individual investors has risen to 83%, also setting a new record. AI-related stocks have become the main driving force behind the surge in leveraged margin trading by Japanese retail investors, with the margin buying balance of the storage concept stock Cyberdyne Inc. reaching 13.23 million shares as of August 7th, making it one of the hot targets.
