According to Recon AI monitoring, the Financial Times reported, citing sources, that Nvidia has established a new customer "whitelist" in Asia. After a new round of reviews, the number of customers in Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan approved to purchase AI chips has been reduced by more than half.
Nvidia will conduct on-site inspections of data centers, verify contracts, and interview end users. The focus is to prevent chips from being resold to China through a third country.
The affected parties are mostly new cloud service providers specializing in providing AI computing power. Companies that did not pass the initial review can still reapply after making improvements. Nvidia stated that compliance has always been the top priority. The U.S. Department of Commerce did not respond.
