According to TrendWatch Beating Monitor, whistleblower @synthwavedd found during a decompilation and code analysis of Anthropic's command-line AI assistant Claude Code in its latest version v2.1.190 that the update package contains multiple hints of the imminent return of the most powerful cutting-edge model, Claude Fable 5.
Unlike the previous v2.1.186 version, which classified Fable 5 under a separate usage credits purchase scheme, the latest code has removed references to a limited-time inclusion and introduced a weekly allotment model. Newly added code indicates that when users reach the quota limit, the client will prompt "This week's included Fable 5 usage quota has been exhausted" and instruct to run /usage-credits to continue usage.
Fable 5 was briefly released in early June of this year as Anthropic's "Mythos-class" cutting-edge model but was subsequently globally disabled due to U.S. government export security restrictions and national security concerns. The analysis suggests that the underlying status update in Claude Code indicates that Anthropic is making technical preparations to swiftly reopen access to this top-tier inference model to global users once policy permits or authorizations are granted, through a combination of bundled subscriptions and weekly limits.
