According to Dynamic Insight monitoring, OpenAI has announced an upgrade to the most commonly used default model in ChatGPT, GPT-5.5 Instant. The new version focuses on enhancing the fun factor of conversational interactions and improving the model's understanding of user intent and its ability to adapt to different tones.
The updated model can more accurately identify the underlying intent behind user queries and adjust its response style based on the context, such as providing emotional support, practical advice, or in-depth analysis, to avoid offering robotic, cookie-cutter responses. In multi-turn conversations, the upgraded model can more reliably handle complex constraints and offer more practical, coherent product and local business recommendations.
The update is being rolled out first to paid users such as Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise, and Go, with free users scheduled to receive the update in the following days.
