OpenAI's annualized revenue is $20 billion lower than previously reported, now standing at $50 billion.

Beating AI News Flash: According to the Financial Times, OpenAI recently disclosed to investors that its annualized revenue was close to $50 billion as of the end of September, significantly lower than the $70 billion reported at the end of last month.

People familiar with the matter said the discrepancy stems from investors attempting to directly compare OpenAI's annualized revenue with that of competitor Anthropic, but the two companies use different statistical calibers: Anthropic includes sales revenue generated through cloud partners such as AWS and Google Cloud in its revenue, while OpenAI does not adopt this approach. Previously, by adjusting OpenAI's revenue caliber, investors arrived at a figure of $40 billion in annualized revenue for August, and then, combined with information disclosed by the company to investors that revenue growth exceeded 70%, calculated $70 billion. OpenAI declined to comment.
