The Cyberspace Administration of China Solicits Public Comments on Regulations to Promote Interoperable and Interconnected Distributed Digital Identity Applications

BlockBeats News, June 18: The Cyberspace Administration of China issued a public consultation notice on the "Regulations on Promoting Interconnection and Mutual Recognition of Distributed Digital Identities (Draft for Comments)" to promote the innovative development of distributed digital identities and their interoperable applications. This initiative aims to support the construction of the national blockchain network's basic interoperable service capabilities, and facilitate cross-platform interoperability and mutual recognition of digital identities in various fields of the national economy and social development.

The regulations state that a distributed digital identity refers to a new type of digital identity based on distributed technologies such as blockchain, which supports users in autonomously managing their identity information. It consists of an identifier, key, verifiable credential, and verifiable claim, and can be used in scenarios such as digital account management, login authentication, and data authorization. Its purpose is to address issues related to cross-regional, cross-industry, and cross-platform identity interoperability and mutual recognition. The deadline for feedback is July 18, 2026.
