WSJ: Anthropic Valuation Surpasses $900 Billion, Overtaking OpenAI

BlockBeats News, May 13th, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, Anthropic has recently received investment offers valuing it at over $900 billion, doubling its current valuation and surpassing OpenAI for the first time.

Earlier this year, OpenAI was valued at $852 billion in a funding round.

Anthropic's "revenue run rate" is expected to reach $500 billion by the end of next month, exceeding $300 billion in April, compared to just $90 billion by the end of 2025. The company originally projected a 10x growth for this year, but actually achieved a growth of about 80x in annualized revenue and usage in the first quarter.

In comparison, OpenAI stated at the end of March that its monthly revenue reached $2 billion, equivalent to an annualized $24 billion.

However, the data from the two companies are not entirely comparable, as Anthropic includes revenue from sales through cloud service partners, while OpenAI does not follow the same method. An OpenAI spokesperson also mentioned that the monthly revenue data is not intended to represent an exact annualized run rate.
