Galaxy Research Director: 518 Bitcoin Addresses Blacklisted by the US Sanctions Still Hold Approximately 9,306 BTC

BlockBeats News, April 19th, Galaxy Digital Research Director Alex Thorn tweeted that there have been a total of 518 Bitcoin addresses historically listed on the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions list (SDN list). These addresses have cumulatively received 249,814 BTC, sent 239,708 BTC, and currently hold a net balance of approximately 9,306 BTC, equivalent to about $707 million at the current market price.

Alex Thorn stated that OFAC sanctions are just one of the United States' means to intercept illicit assets. The CLARITY Act will further expand the Treasury's relevant powers. He believes that this act represents the "largest expansion of financial surveillance powers since the USA PATRIOT Act."
