BlockBeats News, April 16th. According to The Block, Ethereum Foundation (EF) core member Josh Stark has announced his resignation after five years of service. Stark, who joined the Ethereum Foundation in 2019, initially worked in the Special Projects team and later moved up to leadership positions. He has collaborated with EF's Executive Director Aya Miyaguchi, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, and Co-Executive Directors Hsiao-Wei Wang and Bastian Aue. He has been one of the most prominent faces of the Foundation, leading various significant Ethereum milestones, including "The Merge" upgrade from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake, as well as subsequent upgrades like Dencun, Fusaka, and Pectra.
During the Foundation's senior management reorganization last year, he was appointed as the EF Board's "Co-Managing Director" and recently served as the Co-Chair of the "Trillion-Dollar Security" plan. Last month, Stark, along with Josh Rudolf and Julian Ma, co-authored a strategic Ethereum blog post, outlining Ethereum's latest scalability direction and its relationship with the Layer 2 ecosystem. Stark stated: "I have not planned for the future yet; I just want to take a good rest and spend time with family and friends."
This departure comes amidst the ongoing transformation of the Ethereum Foundation. Following a significant leadership reorganization last year, the Foundation has realigned its strategic focus on Ethereum's mainnet scalability and core cypherpunk values. Tomasz K. Stańczak also resigned from his position as Co-Executive Director at the end of February this year, serving for less than a year. On the same day, Trent Van Epps also announced his departure from the EF to fully commit to his Ethereum Core Developer-funded independent organization, Protocol Guild.
