The White House Releases Annual Budget Proposal: Domestic Spending Cuts and Significant Increase in Defense Budget

BlockBeats News, April 3rd: According to a pre-distribution briefing from the White House ahead of the annual budget release, U.S. President Trump is set to propose a freely disposable budget plan on Friday, calling for a significant increase in defense spending by Congress, while reaffirming his advocacy for substantial cuts to domestic project expenditures.

The budget request allocates $1.5 trillion to defense, a significant increase from the $1 trillion proposed for the 2026 fiscal year. The new figure includes a baseline budget authorization of $1.1 trillion for the Department of Defense, along with an additional $350 billion in resources allocated for the U.S.'s war with Iran. Non-defense spending will be cut by 10%, around $73 billion.

Trump is seeking a substantial increase in defense spending, marking the largest annual boost since World War II. It is expected that Republican lawmakers will not push through many of the proposed cuts listed in the document, but increasing defense spending is more likely to receive support. The budget provides a crucial guideline for the upcoming funding battle and gives investors insight into how the White House views the national economic outlook. (Golden Finance)
