The Korean side accuses Binance of not fully freezing the assets stolen from Upbit, only freezing approximately 17%.

2025-12-12 05:36

BlockBeats News, December 12, according to KBS, Binance received a request from the South Korean police to freeze the stolen cryptocurrency from Upbit by hackers, but ultimately only assisted in freezing a portion of it. The South Korean police, after confirming on the day of the incident (27th) that some of the stolen funds flowed to Binance, requested Binance to freeze about 470 million KRW worth of Solana tokens.

However, Binance, citing the need to "further verify the facts," only froze 17% of the requested amount (about 80 million KRW), and the process was delayed by about 15 hours before completion and notification.
