BlockBeats News, March 14th - Joanne Hsu, Director of Consumer Surveys at the University of Michigan, stated that this month the Consumer Confidence Index once again fell by 11%, with all groups divided by age, education level, income, wealth, political affiliation, and geographic region experiencing continued decline. Market sentiment has been falling for three consecutive months, currently down 22% compared to December 2024.
Although the current economic conditions have not changed much, expectations for various aspects of the future economy have deteriorated, including personal finances, the labor market, inflation, the business environment, and the stock market. Many consumers mentioned the high degree of uncertainty in policies and other economic factors; the frequent fluctuations in economic policies make it difficult for consumers to plan for the future, regardless of their policy preferences.
Consumers from three political parties unanimously believe that the economic outlook has weakened since February. Despite the surge in confidence among Republicans after the election, their expectation index in March plummeted by 10%. For independents and Democrats, the expectation indexes decreased by 12% and 24%, respectively, with a larger decline. (Golden Finance)
