BlockBeats News, December 25th: According to a recent report by MV Global, driven by the rise of practical Meme coins, DeSci is poised for significant growth by 2025.
DeSci involves integrating blockchain technology into scientific research, aiming to fundamentally transform the traditional scientific ecosystem by enhancing transparency, decentralization, and collaboration. The report emphasizes that while such a concept is not new, the focus and scope of these initiatives have evolved. Initially, most projects were primarily focused on research funding through DAOs.
Notable examples include VitaDAO, HairDAO, and AxonDAO, which remain influential players in the DeSci space. However, since then, the industry has undergone significant changes, showcasing a trend towards diversification. The report highlights around 30 active projects with various use cases, including research funding, health data management, and open-source research initiatives. It notes that this diversification reflects the increasing maturity and adaptability of the DeSci ecosystem.
The report highlights that the Rifampicin and Urolithin A projects have garnered significant attention, achieving market caps of around $73 million and $59 million, respectively. These tokens were launched through the Pump.Science platform, and according to MV Global's assessment, they offer more utility compared to traditional Meme coins. MV Global predicts that Pump.Science will experience significant expansion by 2025, with at least 10 projects expected to have a market cap exceeding $100 million by the end of the year.
MV Global also predicts that health data management and collaborative open-source research will see substantial growth in 2025. Projects like Hippocrat, which empowers individuals to control their health data, and ResearchCoin, aimed at building a "scientific research GitHub," are seen as promising ventures. By 2025, the market valuations of these two projects are expected to reach at least $2 billion each.
