BlockBeats news, September 18, according to Bloomberg, Animoca Brands co-founder Yat Siu said that Hong Kong is a "strong contender" for the company's potential listing.
"Part of the reason is that the company is headquartered in Hong Kong, and as Hong Kong officials seek to develop a cryptocurrency center, digital asset-related activities are expanding in Hong Kong," Siu revealed in an interview with Bloomberg TV at a conference in Singapore.
But any IPO plans may take "a few more years to really take shape," he said on Wednesday, and the current focus is on developing the business.
Siu told the South China Morning Post last month that private Animoca shares were valued at between $1.5 billion and $3 billion in the secondary market. There is a difference compared to the $5.9 billion valuation of the 2022 financing round.
Siu said low trading volumes in the secondary market would distort the signal, adding that Animoca Brands was not currently seeking to raise new capital.
