BlockBeats reported that on September 9, the Moscow Exchange, Russia's largest securities market, chose not to participate in the pilot program for cryptocurrency trading. The result has been confirmed by Trunikin, the head of the exchange's digital projects.
The decision was made after the Russian State Duma passed a legislative package in July to legalize digital currencies and allow them to be traded on exchanges under the supervision of the central bank. Although the Moscow Exchange chose not to join the program, the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange (SPB Exchange) said it plans to actively participate in cryptocurrency trading trials.
This legal framework aims to regulate the operation of digital currency transactions in the Russian financial system under the strict control of financial authorities.
