BlockBeats news, November 3 - Lisk announced that its Ethereum Layer 2 network, Lisk Chain, was shut down on November 2. User-facing services such as Lisk Portal and Lisk Bridge were closed first, followed by the remaining on-chain components. After the shutdown, approximately 5.2 million LSK remaining in the staking rewards contract—never allocated or earned but unclaimed—will be burned, further reducing the total supply. Previously, 100 million LSK were burned in September.
The company stated that the new Lisk is positioned as a modern financial platform for enterprises, offering accounts, payments, approvals, and portfolio features, and is currently in its early stages. LSK will continue to exist on Ethereum as Lisk's loyalty token, with a total supply of 300 million and an inflation rate of 0. Starting in 2027, enterprises can earn and spend LSK on Lisk. Assets still remaining on Lisk Chain are not guaranteed to be recoverable, and the platform plans to launch a manual claim process in January 2027.
