Nigerian government works with Interpol to seek extradition of Binance executive who “flees” the country

BlockBeats news, on April 4, according to local media PUNCH, the Nigerian government has begun working to extradite Binance’s Africa regional manager Nadeem Anjarwalla, who “escaped” from Nigerian custody in March. Anjarwalla, who holds dual British and Kenyan citizenship, entered Nigeria in late February with Binance’s head of financial crime compliance, Tigran Gambaryan, to meet with authorities to discuss issues related to Binance. But the two were later detained at a "safe house" in Abuja on the orders of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. On March 22, Anjarwalla "escaped custody and left Nigeria" using a Kenyan passport. Sources revealed that the Nigerian government has started processing Anjarwalla’s extradition. Even though Anjarwalla is out of the country, Gambaryan will be arraigned Thursday on five counts, including tax-related charges, while Anjarwalla will be tried in absentia.
