Bloomberg: Prosecutor of "University Air Bombing" case selected to lead new investigation into FTX.
According to a report from Bloomberg on February 29th, the bankruptcy division of the US Department of Justice has selected former federal prosecutor Robert J. Cleary to lead a new external investigation into FTX and its bankruptcy law firm. Cleary, who previously led the prosecution of the Unabomber case, has been appointed as an examiner to lead the investigation for the Office of the United States Trustee, a Department of Justice sub-agency that oversees corporate bankruptcies. According to court documents filed on Tuesday, Cleary has been tasked with reviewing potential conflicts of interest at Sullivan & Cromwell, the bankruptcy law firm representing FTX. He has also been asked to investigate the new management team at FTX, its creditors, and regulatory agencies, as well as whether there was any fraudulent activity by more employees of SBF's cryptocurrency trading platform prior to its collapse in November 2022.
