NEAR Foundation collaborates with Polygon Labs to build zero-knowledge proof solutions for WASM chains.
BlockBeats reported on November 8th that the NEAR Foundation and Polygon Labs have announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop the zero-knowledge (ZK) proof zkWASM for WASM blockchain. The zkWASM proof is planned to be launched next year. The two teams jointly announced this news at the NEARCON conference in Lisbon, Portugal.
zkWASM will become one of the three proof providers for the zero-knowledge-driven L2 chain built on Ethereum in the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK), and the NEAR Foundation will become a core contributor to the Polygon CDK. The implementation of this research plan will promote trustless interoperability in the Web3 ecosystem, including interactions between the NEAR and Ethereum ecosystems.
The development of this solution will enable WASM chains to efficiently and cost-effectively handle transactions while providing the maximum security, unlocking the full potential of zero-knowledge in the Web3 multi-chain future.
Note: WASM blockchain refers to a blockchain platform that uses WebAssembly (WASM) technology to implement smart contracts and blockchain runtime environments, including NEAR Protocol and Polkadot.
