The U.S. SEC has included cryptocurrencies on its list of examination priorities for 2024.
BlockBeats reported on October 17th that Eleanor Terrett, a journalist for Fox, stated on social media that the US SEC has included cryptocurrencies in its priority list for the 2024 exam. It should be noted that most cryptocurrency companies are not registered with the SEC and therefore do not pay registration fees. Terrett questioned whether this indicates that SEC Chairman Gary Gensler is using institutional resources and funds paid by registered companies to prioritize the handling of cryptocurrencies, an industry that he has not yet been authorized to regulate. Alternatively, is the SEC anticipating more cryptocurrency companies to register with the agency by 2024?
