Viewpoint on Tornado Cash case: The Department of Justice believes that the issue lies in the dApp user interface, and the founder profiting from the service through tokens is another complex factor.

BlockBeats news on August 30th reported that Craig Timm, the senior director of anti-money laundering at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), stated that the Department of Justice seems to have specifically pointed out the issue with the user interface in the Tornado Cash case, rather than the smart contract itself. It seems unlikely that charges would be brought without a user interface. Former financial crime prosecutor Anand Sithian stated that the native TORN token of Tornado Cash is another complex factor. According to the indictment, the defendants profited from using the token from Tornado Cash's operations. The document cites messages they sent to each other, allegedly discussing the need to raise the price of TORN.
