IBM and Farmer Connect, a technology company working to improve the agricultural supply chain, showed off Thank My Famer, a blockchain-based app that provides an interactive map that allows consumers to scan their coffee journey, Cointelegraph reported today.
Paul Chang, head of IBM's global blockchain business, said Thank My Famer allows farmers, wholesalers, traders and retailers to interact more effectively while letting consumers know where coffee products come from. David Behrends, founder and President of Farmer Connect, revealed that the Sovrin foundation will provide farmers with digital identities based on the blockchain, through which merchants can push digital certificates to farmers to confirm the price, quantity and quality of coffee. This process will be documented on the IBM blockchain.
