This year's European championship will be more than twenty thousand tickets to the NFT (Non - Fungible Token) form. Given the impact of the event itself, we can argue that blockchain has finally brought NFT tickets to the ticketing market after the Internet brought electronic tickets.
The 20,000 tickets issued on the blockchain are being launched by Shankai, uefa's sole sales agent in Asia, in partnership with AlphaWallet, the cryptocurrency wallet, which is providing the tickets and funding the development. AlphaWallet will provide the technology. These token tickets can be used through tokenscript-compliant ethereum wallets, such as AlphaWallet, and a customised ethereum wallet will be launched by blooming sports to provide a better user experience.
This will be an important moment for blockchain technology to reach ordinary consumers and realize large-scale application. Nearly 940 million people worldwide used digital tickets in 2019, according to data provided by AlphaWallet CEO zhongnan zhang. If 5 percent of that could be converted into blockchain-based token tickets, he believes, it would already be more than all current global blockchain users.
According to the developers, NFT tickets for euro 2020 will be sent to buyers once the contract is developed in February and released on ethereum's main network. By then, the 20,000 etheree-based NFT tickets will enter the electronic wallets of ordinary consumers and be freely transferable, bringing blockchain applications into the daily lives of ordinary people.
An NFT ticket is essentially a non-homogeneous token generated on the blockchain network. This NFT ticket for euro 2016 is issued on ethereum using the improved version of ERC721 standard and TokenScript standard description language.
Thanks to these improvements, these blockchain-based NFT tickets are portable, scalable and interoperable, helping to create frictionless markets, according to zhang. At the same time, the ability of these NFT tickets to atomise payments (DvP, Delivery Versus Payment) without the need for a centralised, trusted third party to guarantee transactions also helps to create frictionless markets.
In other words, the market is more open, and anyone, anywhere in the world, can participate. It's also more efficient. You pay for it, you deliver it, and once the deal is done, the seller gets 100% of the money, and the buyer gets 100% of the goods.
In addition, local files implemented using the TokenScript standard description language can help token get rid of the limitations of existing tokens and become a service integration point with value, benefits and functions. (for the specific concept of TokenScript, please refer to the article "re-understanding token, understanding the new TokenScript".)
In other words, all services can be integrated on the client side through NFT tickets, such as ticket services, insurance services, car booking services, souvenir sales and so on, while users can also choose any services based on tickets freely and conveniently.
As 20,000 euro 2008 tickets go on sale in NFT format, we spoke with AlphaWallet co-founder and CEO zhongnan zhang to help us understand what's different, what's good, and how to make these big breakthroughs.
Advantage of NFT tickets: frictionless trading market
Q: electronic tickets are already convenient. Why use NFT tickets?
Zhang zhongnan: when tickets are in circulation and integrated by different third-party systems, NFT tickets do not require the original issuing institution to participate in the verification, which brings two major benefits. The second is the opening up of the integration market, which greatly reduces the difficulty of integration and makes it easier for users to use the services and service providers to provide services.
Q: how can NFT tickets be verified without the participation of the original issuer?
Mr. Zhang: when a user views a ticket in a wallet or web page that supports the TokenScript standard, he will find a signature message in the upper right corner of the ticket, which is the signature of the publisher. NFT itself (smart contracts plus TokenScript) carries all the verifiable information, so there is no need to go back to a centralized server, either in circulation or during integration.
This integrity of NFT tickets makes them portable, scalable and interoperable, features that help create frictionless markets; NFT's ability to atomise payments (DvP, Delivery Versus Payment) and avoid the need for a centralised, trusted third party to guarantee transactions also helps create frictionless markets.
This market is more open, and anyone, anywhere in the world, can participate. It's also more efficient. You pay for it, you deliver it, and once the deal is done, the seller gets 100% of the money, and the buyer gets 100% of the goods.
Q: how does the frictionless market work?
Mr. Zhang: the simplest thing is that the NFT ticket contract has a built-in transaction function. Any ticket owner who selects the ticket in his wallet will see the function of selling and transferring tickets directly. When tickets are sold, a MagicLink is generated, which is a message containing the signatures of the parties, as well as the ticket price set by the seller, in the form of a link or string.
The seller can take this MagicLink release the information to any social platform or platform, want to buy the tickets for the people only need to copy this article MagicLink information and opened his wallet, purse will automatically suggest he need to pay the amount, if he agreed to pay, signing messages will be broadcast to Ethernet network, the seller received the fare, and he became a tickets for the new owner.
The biggest concern for buyers is buying fake tickets, but NFT cannot fake them. Counterfeiters may be able to make two identical paper or electronic tickets, but there is no way to make two identical NFT tickets.
Companies or organizations, such as hotels, football forums, etc., can also easily create a ticket market within their own systems to offer ticket services in the form of MagicLink. In fact, TokenScript can be used to display tickets as ticket information and ticket status, which is a more friendly way to create a trading market. However, the NFT tickets for the euro tournament hide this feature.
Q: can tickets be bought and sold on NFT markets such as OpenSea, the largest NFT exchange?
Zhang zhongnan: NFT tickets for the euro 2016 are based on the improved ERC721 standard, which is compatible with existing infrastructure and can be traded on OpenSea. As long as the user has a DApp browser wallet, they can see the ticket on OpenSea and set the transaction options to sell or buy the ticket.
It should be noted that OpenSea does not support TokenScript at present, so it can only show the part described by NFT ticket with smart contract, but not the part described by NFT with TokenScript. At this time, the purchaser cannot identify the issuer's signature for fidelity, so he needs to check whether the address of the smart contract issuer of NFT is correct to judge whether the ticket is real or not.
There is no technical difficulty in getting a platform like OpenSea to support TokenScript. Next, we'll work with platforms like OpenSea to push them to support this feature. This is good for these platforms.
Q: what benefits can NFT tickets bring to issuers or equity holders?
Mr. Zhang: a more open and efficient market benefits both the buyer and the issuer. In addition, the issuer can define the rules for the circulation of NFT tickets in the smart contract, so that each participant can automatically participate in the market according to the rules. For example, set the turnover times (some VIP tickets do not want to be resold), limit resale price, participate in resale profit sharing, etc.
Advantages of NFT tickets: open integrated market
Q: after introducing the trading market, what is an open integration market?
Zhang zhongan: to give you an example of a real integration problem for the European championship, Booking.com is the official accommodation partner of uefa. They have targeted a large number of hotels for the European championship, but according to uefa's requirements, these hotels can only be provided to holders of tickets for the European championship. Booking.com can't verify who has the tickets under the existing technology, so they have to push the hotel inventory to the ticket agent and ask the agent to help them sell the tickets, but the ticket agent doesn't know who has the tickets after the ticket is sold, so they can only sell the tickets.
There is a central solution to this problem, but it requires all participants, including every user, to access a closed system managed by uefa. This is not realistic, the parties will not integrate into the system, and even if they do, it will create a lot of friction.
The reasons for the failure of integration can be referred to the article "solving the integration needs is the key to the future block chain business" :
https://www.chainnews.com/articles/847407790351.htm
But NFT can solve the integration problem. NFT tickets themselves provide complete, verifiable information, so the service provider does not need to connect to the ticketing system to authenticate the user's ticket and identity. All they need to do is add a piece of code to their system to validate the NFT ticket, which then shows the user the page and provides the service. Think of a blockchain as an open database, with a simple verification action on the part of the service provider.
For ticket holders, they only need to log in the website of the service provider through the ticket and start using various services after the verification of the service provider. In other words, users no longer need to repeatedly register, input various information and wait for verification when logging into different websites. An NFT ticket can save them all the steps, which is very convenient.
Q: if you take hotel services as an example, what is the implementation process of integration?
Zhang zhongnan: the hotel website adds code to enable its own system to verify NFT tickets. When the user accesses the hotel website through the browser in the wallet, the browser will prompt the user to log in with NFT tickets. Is the browser rather than site tooltips, because it involves the security trust problem such as anchor, interested can through the video to understand: https://youtu.be/Yl7x8DRth9E.
The user confirms "login", the website after verifying that the user has the correct NFT, will show the exclusive booking page of the hotel to the ticket holder, and can recommend the appropriate hotel products for the user according to the information in the NFT ticket, such as game time, location, game times and so on.
Q: what are the other features of the integration marketplace through NFT, or token?
Mr. Zhang: this service integration is infinite, applicable to and accepts (without access) any supporting services related to token. For example, the airline ticket service, insurance service, car booking service, souvenir sales and so on, Uber can provide special discounts for ticket holders to attract these users if it is willing. I think there will be a large number of service providers willing to use NFT ticket /token as the integration point to provide services to users.
All services can be integrated on the user side through token, and each token is equivalent to a fully open API on the user side, which means that all the APIs of alipay, WeChat, facebook and other platforms are in the hands of users. This analogy is not particularly rigorous, but it is convenient for us to understand the power of user side integration.
Specifically, on the Internet, we take big platforms such as alipay and WeChat as integration points, and call different systems through these platforms. However, alipay can only use services integrated by alipay, while WeChat can only use services integrated by WeChat.
