Original Article Title: "In-Depth Guide: Everything You Need to Know About Crypto Twitter"
Original Article Author: Gary, Founder of Base Chinese Platform
Having been in the crypto space for two years, I found my best job, made the best friends, and earned my fair share of the first bucket of gold through Crypto Twitter (CT). This article is everything I have learned.
First and foremost, before entering CT, you need to understand one thing: the crypto space is more than just CT.
If you haven't read through classic crypto articles like ahr999's "Accumulate Bitcoin" or Wu Jihan's "The Beauty of Hash Power," you may want to take a break from CT for a while: read works by Teacher @anymose such as "Understanding Web3 from Scratch" and "Don't Laugh, We're Doing Blockchain," and consume daily information from high-quality media like @BlockBeatsAsia, where the signal-to-noise ratio is high—CT is a place of deep waters and intense heat, where one can easily get lost in verbal battles and influencers. In the crypto space, you must cherish your valuable tokens.
After you have done this preparation work, you can read the article "How Do Newcomers in 2026 Enter the Crypto Space?" which mainly discusses three things: how to create a Twitter account, how to find a job, and how to gain knowledge—all of which are closely related to CT (you can read this article "The Only Correct Way to Work and Earn Money" specifically on how to work and earn money).
The article "How Do Newcomers in 2026 Enter the Crypto Space?" is actually not very friendly to true newcomers, as it involves 30 article references, 23 direct source citations, 50 high-quality Chinese channels, 7 high-quality Korean channels, and 6 high-quality European channels. It's very dry, so consume with caution.
If you want to earn money by creating content on CT, Elon Musk's creator incentive is obviously not enough. Now that various infographics have also ended, one ecosystem you cannot bypass is the Crypto Marketing Agency—about the Agency, you can read this article "Understanding the Agency" which is sufficient.
If you don't intend to make money by creating content on CT yet, I highly recommend you to do so. In addition to the various suggestions for creating a Twitter account in "How Do Newcomers in 2026 Enter the Crypto Space?" you can also read "Everyone Can Make Money by Writing Tweets Standing Up" to understand why Twitter is the best platform, grasp why "In the AI era, media leverage is more important than code leverage," and master three ways to earn money through CT.
KOL, Key Opinion Leader, is a cornerstone in CT: CT cannot be without KOL, just like the West cannot be without Jerusalem.
The biggest difference between KOL and self-media: KOL has its own opinions and style, can influence a group of people, and has an independent business model; while self-media earns money by selling traffic and information asymmetry.
Fifteen years ago, a16z co-founder @pmarca wrote an article "Why Software Is Eating the World," and I think that era has ended—software has already eaten the whole world. In the future world, media leverage is more important than code leverage, and media leverage condensed onto individuals is "KOL": In this regard, I wrote an article called "Why Is KOL Eating the World?".
By 2025, the trend in the currency circle is "Self-Media Surpassing Media," and this trend has already peaked: Self-media is in a free market of attention, where bad money is driving out good money, and everyone is falling into the lower three levels.
From a more macro perspective: TikTok has already consumed a generation's cognition, making people have difficulty reading and becoming ADHD—when things reach an extreme, a reversal is inevitable. Many wise and virtuous people are starting to call for people to return to thinking and rationality, and this is also the responsibility of KOLs. In the future, people will increasingly need KOLs, not self-media, and this is also a trend.
As a founder, you are changing the world with code leverage, human leverage, and capital leverage, so there is no reason not to wield the most powerful leverage: media leverage.
I wrote an article discussing "Why Founders Should Be KOLs the Most?", with the main point being: The core of building Founder IP is "continuously outputting the top thesis in the track where you are." It's not just about having a thesis; it's about continuously having a top-tier thesis. As a founder, you have a mission to become a KOL to produce theses because you are the key to completing the context of that field for humanity—people will definitely have a mental climax when faced with truly awesome knowledge, and at that moment, you have changed someone's cognition, thus changing the world by your existence.
I think this is a big deal, so I have invested my time and attention in it, as detailed in "Why Am I Not a Partner but an Intern?"
Specifically, my job is to "provide prompter engineering under the traffic operation concept for founders, helping founders write that article that can take over the timeline."
For example, @Pxstar_ 's "The Answer That Duan Yongping Didn't Tell Me, Helped Me Achieve the Most Important Mindset Shift in Recent Years" is a timeline takeover article (PS: I did not participate in the writing of this article, but prior to this, I repeatedly encouraged Principal Huangpu to definitely take the Founder Led Growth path, playing the role of a cheerleader).
Another example is @stambouli_o1 's "I paid $0 to chat with Elon Musk for an hour." Originally, this was intended to get a Musk retweet, which was unsuccessful. However, it doesn't matter. It has become an article worthy of repeated sharing with stakeholders. We hope to collaborate on even more exciting articles in the future.
The term "timeline takeover" is something I learned from a16z, as detailed in "a16z is Transforming into an Agency": You can never achieve a timeline takeover by spending money to buy media or KOL articles; you must write the kind of article that "one phrase covers two dynasties, one piece covers the entire Tang dynasty" — and it has to be written by the founder themselves; it's a waste of effort if someone else writes it.
For more details, see "How Did I Help Top Founders Build their IP?"
My original intention in doing this was to change the current Chinese CT public opinion environment. As long as I can help enough top founders write articles that can takeover the timeline, everyone will be able to see plenty of good things!
After resigning as a partner at @MangoLabs_, I told my friends that I was going to write a book. By now, the book is completed, taking two weeks, with a total views exceeding a million. I hope it can help some people.
After completing this book, I will dedicate more energy to serving existing clients — providing the best founder IP consulting. Additionally, I have two side projects: the best Base Chinese media @basezh and the charity project "Use English" — regarding @basezh, see this article "The Best Base Chinese Media"; regarding the charity project "Use English," you can read my article "In 20 days, how did I, with a high school English level, experience a native English moment?"
