Celestia's Genesis block is expected to launch the first modular data availability network later this year. This will be accompanied by TIA, Celestia's native asset.

Like other permissionless protocols, TIA can participate in decentralized governance of network consensus, network parameters, and community pools without permission.

However, Celestia's core mission is to enable anyone to launch their own blockchain in minutes by using TIA to pay for blob space. This allows rollup developers to take advantage of the rich blob space provided by Data Availability Sampling (DAS), the first blockchain architecture that scales with user adoption. In the modular era, developers can freely choose any asset they want as the Gas token or currency for their rollup, or choose to quickly bootstrap using TIA.

In order to advance this vision, we have launched the Genesis Drop today.

The Genesis Drop has invited 7,579 developers and 576,653 on-chain addresses to join Ethereum's rollups, Cosmos Hub, and Osmosis sidechains, and together join Celestia, allowing them to pay for storage space (blobspace) and protect network security from the first block.

From today until 20:00 on October 17, 2023 Beijing time, eligible developers and addresses can add their addresses to the Celestia genesis block by visiting genesis.celestia.org. Tokens claimed through the Genesis Drop will be directly accessible in the wallet from the first block.

Please note: https://genesis.celestia.org is the only way to access Celestia Genesis Drop. No member of the claims website, Celestia Labs team, or Celestia Foundation will ask you to enter your private key or transfer any type of token from your wallet.

Genesis Drop allocated 60 million TIA in the categories described in the table below (6% of the total supply). The TIA document provides more detailed information on the Celestia token model, supply, and fee market.

TIA Token Economic Model Overview

Payment Storage Space

TIA is an important component for developers to build the first modular data availability network. To use Celestia for data availability (DA), Rollup developers need to submit PayForBlobs (PFB) transactions and pay fees priced in TIA.

Start a new Rollup

The core of Celestia's vision is that deploying a blockchain should be as simple as deploying a smart contract. In the modular era, developers no longer need to issue tokens to launch their own blockchain.

Similar to ETH based on Rollup on Ethereum, developers can choose to use TIA as the gas token and currency, as well as pay for data availability fees, to quickly launch their chain. In this mode, developers can focus on creating their applications or execution layers without having to issue tokens immediately.

质押和网络治理

Pledge and network governance.

As an unlicensed network built using the Cosmos SDK, Celestia uses proof-of-stake to ensure its own consensus security. Like in other Cosmos networks, any user can help protect the network by delegating their TIA to Celestia validators and receive a portion of the validator's staking rewards.

Through the Celestia Improvement Proposal (CIP) process, rough consensus will manage the decentralized core development roadmap of Celestia, providing off-chain governance similar to Ethereum's EIP or Bitcoin's BIP. More detailed information about the CIP process will be released in the coming weeks.

TIA also allows the community to play a key role in decentralized governance of critical parts of Celestia from day one, such as voting on network parameters and managing community pools.

1. Network Parameters:

(1) From the start of network boot, TIA holders can vote on a set of network parameters, including Celestia's block size, maximum block size, and other parameters outlined here.

二、Community Pool:

(1) Starting from network launch, the Celestia community pool will receive 2% of all Celestia block rewards.

(二) TIA holders can vote to decide to spend TIA from the community pool to support ecosystem plans.

Genesis Airdrop

Celestia's Genesis Airdrop invites qualified developers and on-chain addresses to contribute to the modular ecosystem of Celestia from the very beginning.

The eligibility for the Genesis airdrop is divided into four categories, with two allocating TIA to 7,579 developers and the other two allocating TIA to 576,653 on-chain addresses on Ethereum, Rollups, Cosmos Hub, and Osmosis. Developers can qualify for multiple TIA allocations (e.g. the sum of research and public goods, Eth research, and/or early modular ecosystem).

The claiming period for the Genesis airdrop will end at 12:00 UTC on October 17, 2023.

Any eligible TIA amount presented on the genesis.celestia.org website or in this article's blog is the minimum amount based on all eligible GitHub accounts or on-chain addresses claiming. At the end of the genesis airdrop, unclaimed tokens may be distributed to developers and accounts that have submitted addresses, with a maximum quantity of 45 million TIA.

Extra TIA will be provided to developers who have at least 23 total submissions and at least 4 submissions in all eligible repositories. For more details, please refer to the GitHub Super Contributor section below.

(1) Public GitHub contributors to the organization and key infrastructure repositories of all chains (Rollups, Cosmos Hub, Osmosis) included in the on-chain standards of Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Genesis Drop.

二、Ethereum and Bitcoin's Open Source Governance

Exclusion criteria: Celestia Labs team members and advisors.

Ethereum Research - 1,400,000 TIA

One, users of the Eth Research forum have created at least one topic or post before July 5, 2023.

Exclusion criteria: Celestia Labs team members and advisors.

Modular Ecosystem, 2023 vs. 2022 (Modular Summit 2)

To build the first modular data availability network, developers working on the aggregation and key modular infrastructure need to pay for blobspace using TIA. Genesis Drop will allocate TIA to public GitHub contributors represented by the Celestia ecosystem map v3 (see below) and participants in the Celestia Modular Researcher Program Group 1.

Celestia Ecosystem Map v3 (Modular Summit 2)

Qualification Standards:

(I) The modular ecosystem map released on the second day of the 2nd Modular Summit (July 2023) and the Celestia ecosystem map.

(II) Attend Modular Summit 1 (Amsterdam, 2022) and Modular Summit 2 (Paris, 2023) organization.

Exclusion criteria: Celestia Labs team members and advisors.

GitHub Super Contributor - 5,650,000 TIA

Qualification Standards:

二、Contributors, total number of submissions ≥4.

Early adopter of Ethereum rollups - 20,000,000 TIA

Three, Arbitrum Nova.

Six, dYdX (StarkEx)

Seven, Immutable (StarkEx)

8. SoRare (StarkEx)

In order to determine the on-chain activity level of users, Genesis Drop will allocate points for on-chain behavior on Ethereum and all eligible aggregations. These points are used to create a comprehensive score for inviting actual early adopters and advanced users, especially rewarding the following on-chain behaviors:

One, Interacting with Smart Contracts and Applications.

2. Holding ENS domain names

3. Donate to Gitcoin

4. ETH spent on Gas

5. Recently there has been trading activity.

(1) Snapshot: Ethereum block 16308181 (January 1, 2023)

(II) Collect on-chain balances through rollup bridging contracts on OP mainnet, Arbitrum One, and ZK Sync Lite, DyDx (StarkEx), Immutable (StarkEx), SoRare (StarkEx), Loopring, Metis Andromeda, and Starknet.

(三) Use Dune Analytics to collect on-chain data.

II. The activity score of an address is defined according to the Ethereum/Rollups scoring method. This method generates a comprehensive score for each address with a maximum of 23 points before January 1, 2023. The weights are as follows:

(I) The recency of the last transaction (prior to the snapshot on January 1, 2023).

(二) Holding ENS domain names (.eth)

(三) Gitcoin Donation

(8) Trading Volume

(9) The total value of all transactions (in US dollars).

(一) List of zombie accounts for Hop

二、Trusta Labs identified Ethereum and rollup addresses through its identification of on-chain clustering behavior and asset transfer maps. These addresses are considered highly likely to be zombie accounts.

Stakers - 18,500,000 TIA

The Genesis airdrop will distribute TIA to holders and delegates of Cosmos Hub and Osmosis who represent at least $75, inviting them to join Celestia and participate in protecting and governing the network. In order to distribute more TIA to more active addresses, eligibility is divided into three levels of deposits and on-chain activities, with the score obtained by multiplying the deposit and on-chain activity scores.

An address's activity score, referencing Trusta Labs' MEDIA framework, is based on its on-chain behavior, such as IBC transactions, recent transaction times, active months, and other metrics as described below.

One, holders and agents of Cosmos Hub and Osmosis with holdings of ≥ $75 will be snapshot before January 1, 2023.

(1) Cosmos Hub Block: 13482205

II. The qualification bucket of an address is determined by multiplying the equity of the address by its activity score.

III. The activity score of an address measures its on-chain activity level. This metric is defined and measured based on the Cosmos/Osmosis scoring method, which is adapted from Trusta Labs' MEDIA scoring framework. A comprehensive score of up to 15 points is generated based on the following factors:

(I) The recency of the last transaction (prior to the snapshot on January 1, 2023).

(II) IBC Transaction Volume

(三) The total value of all transactions (in US dollars).

IBC relay is an unsung hero in the cross-chain field, which will help modular chains achieve interoperability.

Addresses that have conducted MsgRecvPacket transactions on-chain before January 1, 2023 (Cosmos Hub block 13482205, Osmosis block 7592794). Data provided by Numia.

Exclusion criteria:

One, according to Trusta Labs' method of using on-chain clustering behavior and asset transfer diagrams, Cosmos and Osmosis addresses are considered to have a very high likelihood of being Sybils.
