When it comes to y2z Ventures, what do you think of first?
The "mentor" of young entrepreneurs? metaphysics? Or the founders tt and Alen?
Compared to VC's favorite "icing on the cake", y2z Ventures often "send charcoal in the snow". When many young entrepreneurs have nothing, or even "down and out", y2z will often give firm support. Mask, Rct.ai, Pure White Matrix, SeeDAO, Ethsign... Behind the new Chinese Web3 forces, stands y2z Ventures.
At the same time, y2z Ventures maintains its own unique investment methodology and Value Add, face, horoscope, fortune-telling...they have something about "metaphysics" Indicators are unique. The two idealistic but not so "traditional" and "serious" partners took comics and games as life and work stories, ventured into the world, and opened a great voyage DAO in the Web3 world.
With curiosity and respect, Shenchao TechFlow talks to Alen, partner of y2z Ventures, about Web3, about young people, about this world...
< p>
Shenchao TechFlow: Can you introduce yourself, how did you enter the encryption world and met tt , and then become a partner of y2z Ventures today?
Alen:Okay. I am Alen, and I was in a secondary market for private placement of traditional A-shares before. Joining the currency circle and getting to know tt is actually a coincidence.
In 2016, the A-shares speculated on the concept of blockchain, because Ethereum was launched in 2015, and Vitalik's avatar appeared on the Internet at the end of the year Inside The Economist. At that time, I went to a blockchain conference organized by Guotai Junan, and heard a lot of so-called "smart contracts changing the industry". At that time, I heard tt's speech, which was different from many official speeches.
He said that Ethereum IC0 was worth one yuan, and now it has doubled 100 times a year. We are going to be China’s Ethereum. How much do you think we can have? times. I was attracted at that time, it was so simple and pure, it touched my heart! Because first of all, it is an opportunity for primary and secondary arbitrage. At the same time, it is not regulated, and it is easy to realize the realization of liquidity premium. Basically, I think those who do traditional stock IPO arbitrage should be able to get to that point. Then I joined IC0’s QQ group to dive silently, but I just thought I could make money at the time, and I didn’t quite recognize these things. I felt that the people in it were too imaginative and patterned, because it obviously didn’t conform to some common sense and securities laws. .
In 2017, I encountered the frenzy of IC0, and saw that the small ants were rising, so I started to pay attention to this again, and seriously studied the Ethereum Bitcoin The concept of currency, I think the most amazing thing is the possibility. For example, when Decentraland went to Shanghai for a road show, I thought their concept was very good, so I wanted to listen to it. It happened to be raining heavily that day, and only 2 or 3 people went there, so I chatted with them for 2 hours, but I didn’t expect the market value to be so high in a few years. The blockchain gives even an ordinary person the opportunity to communicate equally with project parties half a world away, and they are willing to communicate with you. At the same time, you can also have channels to invest, and may even make big money. This is a very big shock to me, which is completely unimaginable in the traditional market. Of course, making money is part of it. The main reason is that the possibility and atmosphere of being able to invest in world-class innovation is very attractive to me.
At that time, I always felt that tt was very special, so every time I saw his speech, I would listen to it. I remember that at the end of 2017, he would talk about DAO, cyan organization, complex network, causality, and human-computer integration. Even though it has become a superstition now, it was also a very special existence in the domestic currency circle at that time. Every time I listen to it is something new, and tt can always convey the core with his own style, and it will be very rewarding after listening. But in fact, I have always had a fan filter, and I haven't communicated much.
In 2019, the bear market in the currency circle, I happened to see that X order on tt is recruiting people, so I joined with a fan filter for tt, remember At that time, he told me about the future of hundreds of millions of tokens. Before NFT took off, it can be seen that there was a lot of faith in Crypto and financialization. At that time, we had roughly three parts for X order:
One is called donuts, which is dedicated to Twitter to collect some interesting new projects and share alpha regularly ;
There are also specialized research data, want to combine social data and chain data to discover alpha;
There is also a labs, which wants to do some cutting-edge research on complex subjects.
At the same time, many internal attempts have been made to organize the so-called Dao, and many pitfalls have been stepped on. tt doesn’t care what you do, as long as it’s interesting, we would also help bitcoin fortune-telling, study metaphysics and the like.
In 2021, there is an opportunity. In 2019, tt voted for suji for mask, and Wu Xiao for pure white matrix. The point of interest, watching outstanding young people grow up and realize the dreams of others. At that time, the question that tt liked to ask colleagues internally was "tell me what your dream is." So I started to want to be a capital dedicated to helping talented Chinese young people.
At the same time, because I played NFT earlier, I saw several signs:
1) NFT is a combination of finance and culture. Its hidden point is that you will agree with some information, culture and some ideology behind this picture through some price increases. If it’s just DeFi making money, everyone will think it’s nothing. But when it can convey an ideology and culture, then it is a very powerful weapon. Especially under the background that the narrative of Chinese projects has always been a weak point, there is a sense of crisis.
2) Metaverse is too far away, but NFT is a good capital carrier, which can create a hypeable shell first, and then bring players or users to In the future Metaverse, this is what Crypto is good at;
3) Compared with DeFi, Metaverse can integrate more traditional Web2 content and companies into Web3 , and there was a lot of room for arbitrage at that time and in the domestic environment. Based on these two starting points, and the trust relationship that the team has experienced all along, Metaverse Capital was established. Why is it called such a name? At that time, I thought of a slightly stalky name like "Hongwan Lanwan", but after thinking about it, it was not auspicious. I found that no one in the metaverse called it, so I simply called it metaverse capital.
If you are familiar with tt, you should remember an article he wrote at that time on "Stud China Dream". Overall, we feel that it is very meaningful to say that growing up with young people.
Shenchao Tech Flow: For many industry practitioners, when it comes to metaverse capital (y2z ventures) and tt, the first thing that comes to mind The word is "grateful", thanking Metaverse Capital for helping and supporting some young entrepreneurs when they have nothing or the most difficult time in the market, and there will be a sentence on the homepage of y2z's official website, "We are dedicated to supporting young people and startups... "Why do you tend to focus on and invest in young people, and make some investment decisions quickly? Are there any cases that strike you as particularly profound?
Alen: Indeed, in fact, our investment has certain path dependence and tt personal characteristics . Anyone who has been in contact with tt will agree with him. He has some very unique points. His advanced views, sense, innovation, narrative, appeal, straightforwardness and courage to break through the limit, etc., are very rare. And important. This trait can easily attract some young people who are beyond N standard deviations.
tt also likes to invest in this kind of young people, he will feel very energetic, full of vitality, and very diverse. tt always has a mantra internally, "What is your dream?" He really wants to help people realize their dreams and get pleasure from it. At the same time, I position myself as a "connection between the past and the next". This affects us as well, a sort of vibe and internal consensus, so to speak.
And, we can always see the light in the eyes of some young people, which allows us to make decisions relatively quickly.
We will have a very simple investment standard in the early stage:
Be young, the best
Internationalization;
The team must have a certain aesthetic and tonality;
Unique and innovative, financial sense is better;
It is very important that the team or founder has experienced some hardships.
There was a concept in 2017, which was the Tokenization of people, or Social Token, personal Token. The important point of personal Token is that individuals can be K-lined. For example, if you can share some income with your fans, it will inevitably lead to your personal Token being tokenized.
Let's imagine, if you go to trade, what kind of K line do you like to see? You definitely hope to enter the market after a 312, the leverage is cleared, and the currency price stabilizes. We see people like this too, and we think that if he goes through hardships, it means that the leverage has been cleared, and we will find it very interesting to grow up with this young man. And the more heart-wrenching suffering the better.
Speaking of cases, one is rct, a very popular AIGC company. We contacted the co-founder Xian Kun at the beginning of 21. When I came here, I felt that he was very charming, with bright eyes, and he talked about Metaverse with us.
At that time, everyone’s understanding of Metaverse was relatively shallow. The articles in rct 2020 expressed deep insights into Metaverse. I even think they are more than some overseas articles. of. At that time, he said that the current content consumption is too fast. It takes three or four years to make a 3A masterpiece, but we may finish playing the game in dozens of hours. The production of content is far behind the consumption of content, and AIGC will definitely be needed. There must be something of human being. They are working on this piece of content, which will make NPCs more and more human-like, so your sense of immersion must be enhanced, and AI must definitely participate. This will also be a very important part of Metaverse.
We are very excited to see such a young team, coupled with a good idea, want to enter Crypto, and at the same time its own narrative and aesthetics are online , very scarce. After we chatted, we asked embarrassingly, did you suffer any hardships? He said, now that I have come to this point, I will not tell ordinary people. After talking about the previous sufferings, we did not express sympathy at all, and happily thought: Wow, we have found someone. It was quickly decided to lead the vote.
And See Dao's founder Tang Han, when he came here at the beginning of 21, he had the impression of a very petite girl. Some of her perceptions about NFT are similar to ours. When it comes to the combination of culture and finance that NFT can bring, it will have a great impact on the traditional world and express a strong sense of anxiety. At that time, most people in China were still talking about frying pictures and artworks. Under such circumstances, a seemingly delicate girl can talk about such a bright future. The cognition is very advanced, and the sense of contrast is also very strong. We felt that it didn’t matter what we did, so we voted.
In fact, I didn’t expect Tang Han and Baiyu to be able to get to where they are now. It’s actually not easy after a year, but they are very excited every time they meet. Their bodies are very tired, but in their eyes, "we have overcome some difficulties again, we have tested some wrong things again, and we have taken another step towards the correct future", we can easily be deceived Infect.
So we would like to invest in such young teams, they have bright eyes.
Deep Tide TechFlow: There are rumors in the industry Regarding some investment methods of y2z, such as some issues that are more philosophical and Feng Shui, can you tell us about the investment methodology of y2z ventures, or what is different from VCs in other industries?
Alen:Actually, you cannot prove that our world is a game. And I am becoming more and more convinced that our world is a game world, which may also be created by AI analysis. When you design an open-ended game, you will design many NPCs and let these NPCs have some basic attributes. Then you may need to have an algorithm to fill in the basic attributes. These NPCs may only have some Set style, do some set style text communication with the protagonist. But in the foreseeable intelligent future, this NPC or character is assigned its attributes when it is born, and its attributes may have different buffs and debuffs depending on the region and time, just like the matrix in linear algebra Just like multiplication, some communication with the protagonist group will also change with changes in time and place and changes in the plot. Because we create a Metaverse in this direction. If we have enough technology and computing power, we can actually create such a new world.
Although it sounds a bit mysterious, I have to believe what happened around me in the past year. Maybe it has something to do with tt and I both like to read comics and play games. Although it is a bit far-fetched, but in this world view, it is easy to think that there are so-called "instances" and "main missions". At the same time, a group of people are needed to complete the main missions of these dungeons. tt is very good at discovering these so-called "mainline tasks", such as the establishment of a public chain, such as super-sovereign stablecoins, etc., and hopes to find or invest in the protagonists who can complete these "mainline tasks". This could explain a lot.
If you are familiar with tt, you will know that he likes to talk about group wisdom, emergence, causality, complex systems, etc. Of course, these concepts are all together. And also invested in Jizhi, which specializes in the study of complex networks and causal relationships. If you are interested, you can read their articles, which are more academic. Our first-tier investment has always been to invest in "key nodes in the emerging environment."
The encryption world is changing too fast, it is difficult to invest with a certain formula, the first principle can be used in the direction, but the path has a lot of randomness sex (luck). But at the same time, the encryption world has given this uncertainty a sufficiently large risk premium as compensation. Generally speaking, the entire industry encourages innovation and risk taking. At this time, the environment in which innovation can emerge most is very valuable.
For example, Ethereum is an emerging environment. Although its performance has been surpassed, the consensus that does not hinder it is the strongest. The developer community is The most vital thing is that the stronger the diversity of Ethereum, the more nodes there are, the greater its network value and the more irreplaceable its status, and it can become a never-ending, self-operating system.
Some founders really have light in their eyes, and they can always find something that is differentiated and conforms to the first principle, and occupies a Ecological niche, and because of its unique characteristics, everyone wants to work with it, and it can connect more and more nodes, making it a key node in an emerging environment.
And thanks to token, we can always find a tokenomic way to capture the value of this network at the right time. This is what Mr. tt has always believed in. So for us, in addition to the so-called track, we are more concerned about whether we can invest in such young people, and we will enjoy it when we grow up together. Of course, the theory is very beautiful, but in the process of practice, because it involves people, it is actually quite difficult to judge. It is inevitable to use some metaphysical power, such as physiognomy, horoscope and so on. (Laughs) This may be called "combining with the excellent traditional Chinese culture to accelerate the construction of modern Crypto investment with Chinese characteristics".
Deep Tide TechFlow: You once expressed some long-term optimism about Chinese Web3 on Twitter. Regarding the current situation of Chinese entrepreneurs "diaspora around the world and living in a difficult situation", you said that "you are not pessimistic about this, and you don't think that Chinese can see no hope in the Web3 field." Where does this confidence come from? What do you think of the current situation of Chinese Web3 going overseas?
Alen: I think I am more confident. When we started y2z last year, tt met entrepreneurs in Beijing and said, come to Shanghai quickly. Because Shanghai is a combination of the three attributes of Crypto, culture and finance, the Shanghai style culture is particularly strong, and it is especially suitable for open Metaverse-related entrepreneurship. So we persuaded Tang Han to come to Shanghai to work, but we encountered some policy issues when we first arrived, so we suggested that they move out, and now they have also gone to sea. It can be seen from this that for such entrepreneurs who are capable, have a sense of mission, and have a strong desire, they will not reject the pursuit of profit or adapting to the environment in order to achieve their goals.
Because if you are playing a game, in order to complete this main task, you are required to get out. If you play a game, you will definitely get out. It is nothing more than how to run, not whether to run. That being said, one of the most important reasons why we are optimistic about Chinese teams or Chinese entrepreneurs is that this is a group of entrepreneurs who are willing to leave their comfort zone and have been screened or baptized in their determination. They will survive Do your best.
In addition, our own Web2 application foundation is very strong, there are many excellent Internet entrepreneurs, there are many user growth, increase the methodology and practical experience in product experience . Strong in productivity and efficiency, such as the trading platform, which is the most Web2 direction in the Web3 world, is very capable. These are internal reasons for confidence.
Another reason is that the external environment is changing. The current environment may not be in the advantage of Chinese entrepreneurs. For example, because there are many oppressive points in China, the project party can only go to overseas markets. However, it is very difficult for people in China to enter overseas markets. At the same time, the Chinese are not very good at doing structured narratives and integrating into the so-called orthodox ecology. At the current stage, everyone is still focusing on infra to do some entrepreneurship and investment, because the falsification cycle of infra is too long.
For example, if you build a public chain, as long as the team has a strong background, the technology has characteristics, the narrative is innovative, and there is a certain degree of orthodoxy, it is actually very difficult to go in the short term. For falsification, technologies like zk have high barriers to falsification, and the narrative cycle, coin issuance cycle, unlocking cycle, and performance cycle can all be mismatched, so it is relatively easy to earn back the investment. However, there are many people who understand the application, and it is easier to falsify it in the short term when facing users directly, because under the current infrastructure, it is very difficult to achieve the same Web2 experience with the same demand logic. At this time, it is necessary to combine products, ponzi and narrative integration, but ponzi will need to look at timing, and narrative is not its strong point, so the application is relatively weak at this stage. What Infra pays attention to is the innovation of technology and the ability to create an ecology, which is actually relatively lacking in the Chinese. It seems that the strongest ability of Chinese entrepreneurs is the iterative ability of products.
But this external environment will change in the future:
One is to build in Infra After we are almost finished, we need to think about how to introduce users into the Web 3 world. That will definitely require many applications as media carriers. This is the time for Chinese entrepreneurs to play to their strengths. This timing will not wait too long.
Second, when these entrepreneurs who have completed the baptism and screening go to sea, there will be a process of disenchantment and elimination of information gaps. After going face to face to deal with overseas investors, overseas projects, and overseas users, you may feel that most of the overseas investors may not think much differently from what we think, or are at the same level. , but because Western capital may still have the right to speak and structured pricing, we may choose to follow in doubt. But when those excellent entrepreneurs conduct sufficient two-way communication and find that we are not behind in cognition, we will learn from each other and will be more determined to follow some paths we believe in. Such as playing the Asian, African and Latin American markets.
Third, when the Chinese team that has already gone overseas completes the process of disenchanting and building confidence through fuller exchanges, it may be better integrated into the mainstream circle . For example, mask donated to gitcoin for ecology, and the scroll team had a lot of speeches and workshops in devcon to communicate with developers openly. The Rollup day they held the day before devcon invited all the top core people, and it can be seen that they have been well integrated into the mainstream circle. These methodologies can also be gradually shared with those teams who have come out of the "volume" culture and want to build an open ecosystem, and gradually help more outstanding entrepreneurs integrate into the mainstream system.
In the words of "On Protracted War", we have inherently strong factors, and at the same time, unfavorable factors will cause major changes in the degree of strength and the form of advantages and disadvantages. Variety.
Deep Tide TechFlow: That just happened I also said that you have just participated in Devcon in Bogota. What is the biggest feeling and gain from participating in the conference? Are there any promising projects and tracks?
Alen: The biggest feeling is that Ethereum really starts to look like a chain from an ideological point of view Go to the country to export some culture. At the opening ceremony, they will ask the local black dance troupe from Bogota to dance, which makes you feel like a Spring Festival Gala or the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which will create a sense of cultural identity.
Why is this meeting held in Bogota?
Because most of the people in the world are still in developing countries, the organizers hope to support some developers and local people in developing countries. He would like to tell everyone that the traditional impression of many people may feel that this place is not safe, but in fact the Latin American market is a very dynamic and diverse market, and he would like to promote this concept. In that environment, when I chat with some people, I will find that the whole venue is not utilitarian, and the newcomers are friendly. For example, there are many OGs at the venue, and they are still willing to share and let new developers come in, including developers from developing countries. The venue environment of the entire conference is very similar to a co-working space full of humanistic care. It is a community that respects developers and gives developers full voice. My biggest feeling is that it encourages innovation, and then encourages communication, or open source communication. I believe it is because of such an atmosphere that everyone is still willing to develop on Ethereum even though there are performance problems in Ethereum.
In terms of technology, it is actually zk, MEV, layer2, Bank Sharding, account abstraction, and the global influence of public scolls.
There are three projects that I am most optimistic about:
One is DankSharding that will be launched next year , It can solve the problem of data availability, and its launch will benefit all kinds of OP Rollup.
The other is account abstraction, smart contract wallet, which allows C-end users to better seamlessly experience Web 3 and better onboarding users. Because it is a smart contract wallet, it can play a lot of tricks (you can read some articles on argent or unipass), and at the same time, because of the gas, it is not easy to use on layer 1, and more should be used on layer 2. In this way, DS and AA, one from the perspective of infrastructure supply, and the other from the perspective of solving the needs of increasing user experience, believe that next year there will be an application ecosystem worth looking forward to on L2.
The last one is On-Chain Gaming , I think On-Chain Gaming is very interesting, and it hopes to become a self-circulating ecology. Because On-Chain Gaming needs to consider a lot on the technical side of the blockchain, such as how to design MEV and Rollup. These developments are nuts and will be very technical. Unlike those entrepreneurs who make applications, they know which new technologies are available in the underlying technology, and then they will test them.
At the same time, from the perspective of users, many early On-Chain Gaming users were a combination of developers and players, and they were technical users. This is a bit similar to the early ecology of Ethereum. At the beginning, through the game mechanism and game rules, a basic consensus was created, and it was agreed which are scarce resources, and some basic elements were given constraints. Then these early scientists and players will do a lot of development in order to compete for these artificially defined scarce resources, such as running scripts on it, running some front-end plug-ins, and making some third-party applications. This is what many public chains have to do at the beginning Ecology is very similar.
At the same time, many of these players still have a strong identity and narrative power. For example, if you have played Dark Forest, you will know that many of these games require team formation, which will form a governance environment with real short-term goals and quick feedback. So I think a successful game on the chain will form an ecology similar to the public chain, and may even be a small Metaverse. This is worth observing, but how to commercialize and invest is also worth thinking about.

Deep tide TechFlow: follow With the influx of a large number of practitioners, Singapore and North America seem to be becoming more and more "involved", so some people began to target the encryption markets in Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand and Vietnam, Africa and South America. What do you think of these third world countries? Will the Crypto market be a huge opportunity in the future?
Alen:I think so. I liked a book before, called "Rodgers' Global Investment Travel", which probably means that Rogers traveled on a motorcycle and made money. Its general theory is somewhat similar to the time machine theory, and with the addition of adapting measures to local conditions, you can find many opportunities for space-time arbitrage and geographical arbitrage.
Now it seems that the overall cost of Singapore is very high, it is not suitable for some entrepreneurship, and it has a strong commercial atmosphere. The United States is very good, no matter in terms of talents, technology or capital, there is no shortage of them, but relatively speaking, the cost is also quite high, even higher than that of Singapore. The law and order there is relatively not that safe. For some teams that have not raised a lot of money, it is still quite difficult to live in Singapore and the United States.
There is also a cost of living problem in Europe, and the language barrier in South America. After seeing many Chinese entrepreneurs going to the United States and Singapore, they will also go to Thailand and Bali to see look. This is the result of the process of elimination.
Speaking of the third world countries, I think there is quite a lot to do. The internal and external environment has caused some countries to accept Crypto very highly, and they chose Crypto.
For example, Argentina, a Latin American country, has a high inflation rate, and El Salvador's legal tender is the US dollar and Bitcoin, and there is even no national legal tender. The local people have no loyalty to the national currency, and pay more attention to the factual consensus on the legal currency of payment, and the US dollar stable currency can easily meet this demand. Many countries have a lot of cross-border personnel movement, and this process will definitely be accompanied by cross-border remittances, and Crypto can solve the problem of cross-border remittances. At the same time, the coverage of many banking systems in those countries is not strong, and the threshold for opening a bank account is high. Many people still use similar cash to buy point cards to recharge. In these countries, as long as traditional fast payment and transactions are done well, as well as localization, such as user experience and regulatory issues, it may already be a big killer, and the so-called ponzi model is not needed.
Many Latin American countries also have a population advantage, which is convenient for recruiting at low cost, has a high penetration rate of mobile phones, and a high level of education. It is also a blue ocean for Internet projects. However, Chinese entrepreneurs are very diligent and methodological. If they can do a good job of localization according to local conditions, to enter these markets that do not value orthodoxy and Native so much, and to effectively solve their needs, there is still a lot of room for development.
However, I also encountered an interesting thing recently. In the hash house in Medellin, I mentioned that I am optimistic about the Latin American market. The feedback given to me is, The Chinese say the market sounds like a "new colony" and is quite sensitive. This may require entrepreneurs to provide value that can improve their lives from the bottom up and with heart, so as to better access the local market.
Deep Tide TechFlow: Currently, Which tracks are y2z ventues mainly concerned about or optimistic about in the future?
Alen: As I said before, the most important thing is to vote for a reliable team and potential young people. We will invest backwards based on the speculation of the future main storyline. In 2019, tt was optimistic about the future of hundreds of millions of tokens, which were basically FT at that time. Until last year when NFT became popular, there may have been more than hundreds of millions of tokens. At that time, if you firmly believed in this future, you could actually launch many investment opportunities.
Because we traveled once in the first half of this year, when we went to Bali in May, we felt that we believed in the future of "Internet Country". In the future, the international situation may become worse and worse. Many people will want to go out and have a look to find a more suitable environment. The recent popularity of the concept of digital nomads proves it. During this process, new groups of people will start to accelerate their physical flow. In the process of flow, some new ideologies will become mainstream, and there will be new social practices that are really designed to be physically off-chain. Crypto can also obviously Help those on the move.
Bitcoin’s original development path may be followed again, but this time it will be followed by a group of people who agree with a certain idea.
What kind of Crypto project can help this group of people by then? What new products, new governance models, and new organizational structures will emerge? This is our concern.
The great voyage Dao that tt wanted to do at that time was also an exploration of this. Hope to explore the way of survival of the overseas Chinese in the age of great voyages. Many friends still hope to continue.
Deep Tide TechFlow: In the entire investment process, what is the biggest inspiration or the most important thing that tt taught you?
Alen: In fact, teaching by example and teaching has taught me a lot, if I say the best summary , may be willful and live and courage. Because I have been with tt for quite a long time, the whole team is like family with tt. He will regard this world as a game, always looking for the mainline copy of the current version of the world, and looking for the ecological niche that he can reach under this mainline copy, and then try his best to reach this position, completely disregarding other things, willfully live.
This is a great inspiration to me. It reminds me of the first ten commandments of the hunter in "Hunter" that we all like to watch: A hunter must have something to hunt. In the hunter comics, every hunter must have his own goal and work hard accordingly, but there is no limit to the setting of the goal, full of diversity and the greatest respect for it. Everyone has to find their own mainline dungeons and tasks, and then live freely without worrying about other things, which will make them much happier.
