On September 17, Tencent Technology and BlockBeats jointly held the first phase of "Crazy Meta-universe" with the theme of "Meta-universe erupts again, the concept sector of secondary market is hot, why do we need meta-universe? In the column, yi Huanhuan, chairman of Yibotianxia And author of the meta-universe series, and Qin Jianxin, co-founder of Cryptoart. Ai, were invited as guests.
Yi huanhuan sees the meta-universe as a symbiotic state of reality and reality that humans will live in a decade. Qin jianxin said the meta-universe is not the future, should be ongoing. At the same time, both participants strongly agreed that "the metasomes are the next generation of Internet", and that the decade will be a cycle for the emergence of new industries. The development of the metaverse may take a decade of technological innovation.

The host:Welcome to watch Tencent live today. This program is jointly launched by Tencent Technology and BlockBeats, a blockchain media rhythm. The whole program will focus on the topic of the recently popular new concept of metaverse, inviting guests to interpret for you and trigger some new thinking in this field.
So why the meta-universe? We observe the recent capital market, a-share secondary market meta-cosmic concept fire, including like Zhongqingbao, Tomcat concept stocks rose very well. Bytedance's acquisition of Pico for 5 billion yuan, toutiao is officially entering the VR market, or the meta-universe market, according to sources. The news will stir market sentiment.
Facebook and Tencent have also started to make acquisitions in the metasurverse market. Tencent, for example, has invested in Quanzhen Universe, and Facebook has talked about becoming a universe company.
2021 is the first year of the metadverse, a much-discussed but somewhat nebulous concept. I believe many people will also have this doubt: is the metroverse a good direction for entrepreneurship? Or is it a fake concept?
Today we invite two practitioners in the field of the meta-universe to talk about the story of the meta-universe:
Ladies and gentlemen, please introduce yourself first.
Yi Huan huan:Thank you, everybody! I am Yihuanhuan. I myself am the author of the first meta-universe series in China, and I have been doing research in China's stock market. He used to be the director of The Research Institute of Shenwan Hongyuan Securities, and then set up a company named Yi Stock World, mainly engaged in the investment work related to the meta-universe.
Jian-xin qin:Hello everyone, thank you! I am the co-founder of Cryptoart. AI. Currently, the platform focuses on the field of cryptographic technology trading, and aims to become a platform for high-end NFT assets serving the meta-universe, because there will be digital assets of music, film and television, IP cultural and creative industries in the future. We currently have more than 900 artists from more than 50 countries.
The host:Let's get straight to the point and talk about the metaverse. The first question is about the definition of the metadverse, which is not very clear. One of the most notable things we've seen recently is apple's dispute with Epic Games that's been going on for about a year. Epic, one of the world's largest makers of Unreal engines and games, is suing Apple for violating antitrust laws, arguing that Apple should not charge 30 percent of the in-app fee.
The verdict is 185 pages long. The judge lists the issues on both sides, and you can see that on page 185 the word "metasomes" appears. Epic actually stated that it wasn't a game, that fortnite was a meta-universe, and Epic didn't think Apple should charge for the meta-universe. That's an interesting idea, and it depends on what you mean by the metasverse.
Yi Huan huan:If summed up in one sentence: first, the meta-universe is a symbiotic state of the virtual and the real that human beings will live in ten years later.
Second, if it is divided into stages, the first stage is that the physical world is forming a huge parallel virtual space due to the development of information technology. The second stage is the participants in the virtual space, which will be more and more in the future. Not only a single organism, but also a lot of info-men and intelligent men will be produced to further influence the physical world and eventually achieve the fusion state of virtual and real symbiosis. If we look at it backwards ten years later, this is what we understand as the meta-universe.
Jian-xin qin:There are a lot of opinions. Taken together, many of these ideas are a bit like blind men touching an elephant. In my mind, the meta-universe is actually a decentralized civilization with a fair economic system and universal values. It is an infinitely evolving civilization that can solve the ultimate needs of mankind, or solve the "questions of where I come from, where I am going, and who I am". Of course, this may be the ultimate answer to mankind's spiritual quest.
There is a saying that only two things in this world can deeply shock people's hearts, one is the bright sky above the human head, the other is the lofty moral law in the human heart. The problem of the meta-universe is the ultimate problem of mankind. From the technical point of view, it may include the integration of all the current high-end technologies, including blockchain system, display system and operating system. Its characteristics are continuous evolution, and it is a system of always online economic system.
Yi Huan huan:Let me add a few more things, the metasomes have digital ids of everything in them, and everyone has a digital identity. Behind the digital identity is the entity or information person, or one person corresponds to multiple.
Second, the metasomes, in which many social relationships and social connections in real life are deeply immersed, will become an N×N network. The power of the network is enormous because the future of the participants in the metasemes is infinite.
Third, there is a strong sense of immersion. When human beings become the symbiotic world of the virtual and the real, it is not clear whether they are in the virtual or the real, which is a very different characteristic. And as Mr. Qin mentioned earlier, it has a set of free economic systems and economic drivers, and a set of systems can be used to further settle accounts between different universes. This thing is always data-driven, the flow of the whole thing, the flow of the whole thing is data-centric, so these are some of the main characteristics of the meta-universe as we understand it.
Yi Huan huan:From my point of view, there seems to be a second Life scene in the game. But the problem with most of the existing game scenes is that more people aren't involved enough, aren't involved enough in creating the game. At the same time, games tend to have one owner, which is centralized and centralized. When centralized human rules don't adapt to growth, the game may decline. No. Instead of pushing forward in a sustainable and sustainable way like the meta-universe, we can correct mistakes and build, create and share them together. The game is a prototype of the meta-universe, but the meta-universe sublimates the whole realm of the game.
In addition, the metasomes also absorb a lot of the essence and ideas from the blockchain. In the case of Ethereum, Vitalik [the founder of Ethereum] doesn't necessarily control this anymore. This network has a community of hundreds of thousands of people working together to create and innovate, which has led to applications that were completely unimagined before. It would be more accurate to say that the metasomes originated in games, but evolved in blockchain, and exploded further in social and other aspects.
Jian-xin qin:On a gaming level, I think the metasomes contain games, but games are only part of it. Probably more political, economic, religious, cultural, including education, it covers everything. It's huge, a virtual projection or parallel universe of the real world, bigger than any game we've ever played, and it's too big a complex to think of in terms of the current centralization of gaming.
From the point of view of encryption technology, like before the concept of NFT, many digital artists, many works could not be traded, because the rights could not be confirmed. I can only do some traditional work, including we have an artist on our platform who is from Canada, who has worked on special effects for four episodes of Star Wars, including Game of Thrones.
With such an ecosystem, he can sell his digital works in the world. NFT's blockchain technology solves the problem of the scarcity of the right confirmation in the digital economy. I think the future of the metasverse is going to have a lot of builders, or creators, working together to build an ecosystem, or a centralized game.
Host: The concept of the meta-universe or this investment track at the beginning of this year has been very popular, can be said to be one of the most popular domestic VC attention track, many VC even called it the next generation of Internet, so why the concept of the meta-universe so popular? Why suddenly on the status of the next generation of Internet, meta-universe in the end can bear the so-called "next generation of Internet" so big, so heavy positioning?

Yi Huan huan:In fact, all innovation does not come from a complete refactoring. The word "Internet" has been around in LABS since the 1960s, but the constraints of the technology didn't allow it to explode. But in 2000, when the Internet began to rise on a large scale, people suddenly felt that this could be done, so it was naturally widely used on a large scale. Why is the metasverse only catching on now? Is the core of our concern.
In fact, we can see that in the past six years, first of all, the Internet has no traffic dividend, and second, there are not too many new core innovations. Large Internet companies are also extremely introconcentrated, which increases the growth of traffic dividend, the improvement of entrepreneurship threshold and the further involvement of regulation in the whole industry. This phenomenon is the same not only in China, but also in the whole world. And this is where we find out that Facebook's Zuckerberg is doing something really important.
In 2016, Zuckerberg discovered that the Internet we live in is a flat web, flattened with two-sided foil by the various civilizations in the three-Body Problem. Now I hope to turn this network into a three-dimensional, three-dimensional, multi-dimensional, real-time and multi-dimensional network. In this way, the whole business change and the whole information change carried by this network are completely unable to be possessed by this planar Internet before. I think that's a very important core.
The first is in the user's participation node, from the human to the huge information people can participate, the number of nodes becomes almost infinite. The second is immersion, online marketplace. These factors put together, it will be found that the meta-universe is based on the Internet, but there are more dimensions to participate in the Internet, and the smell of investment institutions is often less direct than the industry. Because it itself faces real competition, regulatory pressure, and the search for the next second growth curve, investment institutions are not necessarily the first to smell growth.
At the same time, Facebook has invested nearly $12 billion since 2016, and this year has seen a lot of discovery, a lot of user experience, a lot of technology scenarios, so this is probably the first year of what we call the meta-universe. But the track is difficult, has high barriers and is long enough for longer-term investors to participate slowly and patiently.
In my opinion, this is an opportunity for the next generation computing platform, and all practitioners and investors should pay attention to this direction.
Jian-xin qin:Just now, Teacher Yi mentioned liu Cixin's three-Body Problem. Liu Cixin once said in an award ceremony, "The sea of stars", but you only gave me Facebook. From his point of view, human beings have only two channels, one outward and one inward, as the earth's resources become increasingly depleted. Out is the sea of stars, to explore Mars, to explore more human needs for survival, enough energy. Inward exploration is a spiritual realm, and as we see, COVID-19 has brought many problems to the physical lives of humans. We can see that online meetings, including the current round table, are conducted in virtual Spaces. At the same time as the pandemic is raging, auction houses Christie's and Sotheby's are conducting online auctions, as is the rise of online education.
The meta-universe concept is the sum total of almost all the advanced technologies out there, whether it's computing, networking, VR, 3D or AR. This is a common way out for human beings, and I think maybe from this point of view, it should be the concept of the future that must be experienced.
Yi Huan huan:I'll give you two scenarios. One scenario is like the corresponding scene in the game, and in fact we can almost completely substitute it into some of the game scenarios. For example, if I am a commander in a war, I can be scanned into the battlefield with all my heart, how I command and participate, and how friends cooperate. How to switch back and forth between different universes and exchange, I think, is a full involvement.
The second is to use scenarios such as meetings and work. For example, all Facebook employees have been asked to work from home because of the pandemic, or they can work from home permanently. At the same time, the company offers an Oculus tool that scans my entire room and office directly into a virtual work meeting. At the same time, all my writing and drawing in the middle, as well as all the information in the computer are directly put on the virtual whiteboard, which can carry out very in-depth and core interaction. The data accumulated in the middle can be accumulated and preserved for a long time. This scenario is immediately achievable.
The third scenario is in the military, like Microsoft's recent $21 billion offer to the United States for a digital helmet plug-in. What could that accomplish? The combat team consists of one person and four unmanned equipment. In the helmet, all the data and signals from satellite, UAV, unmanned vehicle and logistics support system can be accessed in real time, and the status of their entire 5G system and equipment system can be fully understood. After forming a battle group, form a common link with another battle group on the virtual map. This turns the entire battlefield into a virtual battleground based on a kind of metasverse, where work and combat takes place in real time.
I think with these three scenarios, games are becoming more and more intelligent, self-driven, infinitely scalable, with an infinite timeline. For work, we blend real and virtual scenes, breaking down all physical boundaries. Maybe so I began to pat Qin teacher, Qin teacher will have a feeling, but we are not in the same place.
Jian-xin qin:Some time ago, I saw that an American user used the training method of AI. It seems that the user's wife died, and he input the conversations between his wife and him for several years to THE AI to learn and then talk with the AI. He was amazed to find that many details had been imitated exactly, including a small expression or habit. One of the things I'm really excited about is the concept of digital twinning, which involves having friends record their own voice every day to upload to AI to learn, to create a digital identity. So there's this idea of immortality in a virtual world, which I think is quite exciting.
In fact, human civilizations have always been influenced by different regions and cultures, that is, they are very difficult to integrate together. From this point of view, the meta-universe will establish a new civilization ecology. Such civilization may, in turn, push the reality, guide or truly drive human beings towards the good side, and may realize the ideal society of the so-called community of common destiny.
Yi Huan huan:As I mentioned earlier, the first point is that the course and progress of mankind towards the meta-universe is basically deterministic. In the physical world, the entire resources are always limited. To satisfy everyone's yearning for a better life at this level is actually determined by the limitation of resources. In the physical world, for example, everyone wants a Ferrari, and the entire global resource can't afford it. But you in the virtual space, is a direct portrayal of the human spirit, can be very multidimensional. The resources will be endless, not successful in the physical world, but can be recognized and recognized by many people in the virtual world.
I think at this level, and with the whole silicon content, that is, the level of information and intelligence go forward, it is an inevitable world for human beings to step into the meta-universe.
What is the other big impact and significance? In fact, in the metasomes, it actually stretches the brutal insides and rivalries of the Internet to a larger dimension, similar to when there was a boat in Europe called the Mayflower with a bunch of people on it. This group of people could not stay in Europe any longer, so they took the boat to another new world, and founded a very important country. Now the metasurverse is a huge opportunity and space for many people, whether they are entrepreneurs or others.
Jian-xin qin:Just teacher Yi said, when the human material civilization to a certain stage, will inevitably explore spiritual civilization. Including a lot of things that we cannot achieve and do in the physical society, in the meta-universe is relatively freer, he can realize his dream in the meta-universe. At this point, yes.

Yi Huan huan:I think there are a couple of things. The first thing is for Ready Player One, it gives the public a perspective. Through devices such as portals, we put our minds into a virtual world and then change it. The gold they won and so on, and actually there's an economic system in the middle, but it's not particularly important in the movie.
When I finished watching Out of Control Player, I felt that the intelligence in it was learning to form its own sense of self. Jumping out of the game at the same time changes the fate of the whole game, which I think is the core meaning and significance of the two films.
As a meta-universe, the most important thing is to build an economic system. Without an economic system, how can participants and users be driven to maintain the progress of the matter in an ecological way? How can innovation and new conservation be provided? This is the most important design mechanism for the metasverse to succeed and become mainstream.
Jian-xin qin:The only downside of both films is that they don't build on the underlying foundation of a decentralized blockchain. In Player Out of Control, the system is rebooted and the player's equipment and leveling experience is lost, which is not how the meta-universe should be. The metasemes should be decentralized and sustainable, with no loss of assets. I think there will definitely be super economies in the metasomes combined with digital economies like DeFi, GameFi and SocialFi. NFT should be a productivity tool in such an ecosystem. Such productivity tools, can greatly promote the development of the digital economy, must have such an economic form.
Yi Huan huan:There are several aspects, one is that the flow dividend has disappeared, and the second is that inroll competition doesn't make any sense. I myself put forward that the future in the meta-universe is actually a situation of competition between China, the United States and Russia. There are three Chinese enterprises in the whole industry chain, namely Huawei, Tencent and Byte. In the United States, it's Facebook. The other is Ethereum. I personally think it's possible that ethereum, Facebook, and byte are going to be very important players in the middle, so that's number one.
Second, Facebook (Zuckerberg) was very young in 1984, and it must be looking for a more important and core track for the future growth of the whole enterprise. I think the metasomes is what he (Zuckerberg) thinks is the most important track of the decade, to make the core product with all of his energy.
Also, the extension of this thing is that there's a lot of technology in the middle, maturing on demand. The biggest experience of the metasverse is a huge flood of data. The amount of data is growing exponentially, which challenges the entire computing architecture. When there are challenges, that means bigger opportunities arise, that means bigger companies are likely to emerge, so that's my point.
Yi Huan huan:It's possible that the giant I just said could come from three companies, but not necessarily. Why is that? You can see yahoo becoming irrelevant in the Internet age, Baidu becoming irrelevant in the mobile Internet age. Byte, Facebook, Ethereum are very important right now. But there is no guarantee that they will come out on top. At the same time, I think companies will grow much bigger in the future because of this huge flood.
Jian-xin qin:The current clustering of the metasverse is much like the clustering of the Internet circa 1995. One client I worked with in 1999 was Yitang, which was a fantastic team of all returnees, five Harvard Mbas, two Chicago Mbas, raised $50 million at that time. I watched them decline, until the last few years the domain was sold for very little money.
In a new change, if there is no enough layout or subversive action, I don't think it is possible to become a giant. Of course, in 1999, we also downloaded QICQ software, which is now QQ, but we all used MSN. So I say the emergence of a giant is an accidental event. It could also be a small blockchain gaming company, an NFT exchange, all of these possibilities.
I think the core should be different from the current Internet. It should be a decentralized platform based on blockchain, or an enterprise with such a background.
Yi Huan huan:Because with the flood of data at the level of the meta-universe, a centralized giant universe, whether it's performance, whether it's participation, whether it's overall sustainability, whether it's security, whether it's privacy, I don't think it's going to be universally acceptable. This is going to be a little bit more difficult conceptually.
Jian-xin qin:In the same way, I think that if it's centralized, it doesn't fit in with the consensus view of the universe.
Yi Huan huan:I'll take the physical universe, does the physical universe have a center? There is no center.
Jian-xin qin:In the metasemes, your assets are always subject to a centralized nothis-nothis-nothing, which should not be possible in the physical universe.
Yi Huan huan:This is our original summary of the six core supporting technology of the meta-universe, we named it BIGANT (BIGANT), describing a single individual, like an ant, walking alone in the vast universe, supported by six legs. Because of the vast amount of data on a cosmic scale, it also poses great challenges to its six technologies, which are the difficulties and dilemmas you mentioned just now. Where there are challenges of difficulties and dilemmas, there are great opportunities.
The first is what are the opportunities for blockchain? Before the metasemes, everyone thought blockchain was important, but it was unclear what blockchain could do in the middle. Now, because of the emergence of the metasemes, we understand that under the decentralized architecture of blockchain, each participating subject can be provided with a one-way, encrypted, immutable digital identity. At the same time, all the accumulated assets can be identified as data assets, which will naturally form a huge commodity market based on data, namely the economic system. The current difficulty with blockchain is performance.
The second is interaction, which opens the portal for us to go from the physical world to the meta-universe. I might get dizzy if I wear it too long, and the interaction experience is not good enough. You can go in at the same time, but when you come out, what you're going to show is probably years away. Because of the emergence of such a purpose, we will gradually think about how to gradually form a technical roadmap, technical plan. Including in the era when engines, AI became AIGC, that is, artificial intelligence generated data, including computation.
In the age of meta-universe, GPU will be the dominant force from CPU, but GPU can only do single calculation now, not parallelism or rendering in the way of cloud. I think the future is a lot of core challenges, and the unit price of GPU may be 1/100 of the reduction in computing cost, so this effect can be achieved. In this, we can see that the future is very big. There are both challenges and opportunities in the midst of challenges, and at the same time, it provides my purpose and meaning to each link of technology.
Jian-xin qin:Mr. Yi was right. The biggest obstacle is the law of nature. The natural law is that the development of science and technology has an inevitable law, whether it needs chips, terminal display equipment, network, these developments need time, we need time to improve the infrastructure. Kind of like the primordial metaverse.
The emergence of NFT is a productivity tool, just like human will master stone tools, can have tools, productivity can be greatly improved. But infrastructure takes time to develop, and that should be the biggest hurdle.
Yi Huan huan:In China's capital market, cloud computing, big data, Internet finance and industrial Internet were all guided by the capital market. The same is true of the metaverse. In fact, there's a core pattern that we're going to summarize, and you can actually see the whole trend is called chaos. When it first came out, everyone thought it was important to get involved.
The second is the period of divergence. Some people say this is a good thing and will happen soon. Some people say it's hard, others say it's logical.
In the third stage, it will enter the acceleration stage, which will quickly form the rules of the industry, quickly form some key entrances, and quickly form the enterprises that will become giants in the future. Finally, it will reach the stable stage, and finally reach the burst stage of the bubble.
We've outlined the stages, and in the course of each mega-theme coming out in about a decade, it's going to complete the whole wave of evolution. Among them, the capital market is the most acute and sensitive, so it will react in advance. The second step is that a lot of companies, a lot of entrepreneurs start thinking, start going all in on this thing. At the same time, the full involvement of these big players, from Facebook to Byte, Tencent and Apple, could dramatically lower the barriers to entry for critical devices across the industry. For example, Facebook spent $12 billion on Oculus Quest2, which has already sold 10 million units this year, 30 million next year, and 90 million the year after. But once it hits 200 million units shipped the year after next, the industry will explode.
Ten years is perfect, five years is the key rules of the game to form the industry, basically the pattern is set, three years will come out of great innovation, there will be progress every year.
Jian-xin qin:The meta-universe is not the future, it should be the ongoing tense. The signature event is the popularity of NFT, which has brought disruption to the validation of digital assets, which has laid the foundation. In terms of time, I agree with Mr. Yi that about ten years is a span, referring to the development of traditional Internet concept, infrastructure, and the maturity of payment, which probably took 10 to 15 years.
Yi Huan huan:Ten years is fast.
Yi Huan huan:Yeah, but every year there's a lot of progress, every year there's change, and that's the wonderful reaction to that. I'll give you an example. It's like the first day of the Big Bang, where the six technologies that WE talked about are constantly intensifying, constantly heating up, and all kinds of chemical reactions are happening and all of a sudden, that's day one.
