The Graph has released its first batch of mainnet migration subgraphs, covering four categories of vertical subgraphs and a total of 10 projects

The 10 projects represent Defi, NFT, Entertainment, and Video.

Mainnet migration partners have been working on Web3 to pioneer decentralized application development. They have long been aligned with The Graph ecosystem, and each partner is using open APIs that are a key part of The Web3 vision. Everyone from decentralized trading platform Dodo to algorithmically stable asset Reflexer to prediction market Gnosis is actively building Ethereum.

These subgraphs also demonstrate the query patterns that make them the best candidates for the first phase of the main network migration. This process will continue to roll out over the next few months, as each subgraph started on the main network will differ in the amount of time required for indexer synchronization.

According to The Graph article, The mainnet migration partner represents four vertical subgraphs: DEFI, NFT, Entertainment, and Video. Each vertical application is made up of a rich set of data.

Defi (Decentralized Finance)

The Defi market currently accounts for the majority of queries for host services from applications such as trading platforms, asset management tools, and synthetic assets. The first DEFI subdiagrams to be started on the mainnet were UMA, Gnosis, MSTable, Reflexer, Dodo, Opyn, Enzyme, and Pooltogether.

UMADomination Finance is a decentralized financial contract platform designed to lower barriers to market entry and power projects like UUSD, Perlinx and Domination Finance.

GnosisOmen is building a decentralized prediction market where users can create and participate in information marketplaces on a variety of topics (encryption, politics, sports, etc.) and post collateral.

mStableProvides autonomous and unmanaged infrastructure for fixed-value crypto assets and integrates with other protocols such as AAVE, Argent, Balancer, and Compound.

ReflexeR is building the first ETH supported non-fixed algorithmic stable asset RAI, powered by automatic controllers and integrated with protocols such as Cream Finance.

DODOIs a decentralized trading platform and liquidity provider, recently published a blog about their use of subgraphs to access data on the chain.

EnzymeIs an on-chain asset management tool that helps users build, scale, and monetize investment strategies.

OpynIs a DEFI protocol that allows users to earn a premium or hedge risk by trading DEFI options on ETH and ERC20 tokens.

PoolTogetherIs a centralised no-loss lottery project on Ethereum that has had a sub-graph on the mainnet since December 2020 and will continue to be a source of revenue for indexers.

NFT and entertainment

NFT is one of the fastest growing subgraph verticals on managed services and one of the most anticipated use cases for Ethereum.

The Graph's NFT music mainnet migration partner is Audius.AudiusIs a new streaming platform for all musicians to promote and share their music. While Audius' music player interface is familiar, their DAOO differs from traditional streaming services in that it connects fans directly with artists through a decentralized structure and tokens.

video

Video is another popular vertical for hosting services. LivePeer is an Etherium-based decentralized video streaming platform whose subgraphs have been on Graph's hosted service since 2019. LivePeer is building a global open video infrastructure through its network of applications and sharing video data with users.

Next stage: Synchronous subgraphs and test Scalar before the second stage

The first phase of the migration is to successfully migrate the first 10 subatlases to the mainnet and support them as the indexer begins to prepare for increased query volume and query fee transactions.

The Graph Foundation will work closely with each partner to support a smooth transition from these subgraphs to a decentralized network so that dApps provide The best user experience and successfully synchronize data on The chain for indexers. The Graph Foundation will provide guides and workshops for indexers to improve their performance in supporting real-time queries throughout The migration process.

The Arbitration Charter will be introduced to guide The indexers to settle and reduce disputes. Indexers who wish to be supported throughout the migration can join the community's Discord, Indexers channel.

Last week, The Graph Foundation launched a microtransaction system called Scalar that supports query fee usage on The mainnet. Scalar is in final testing on the test network, and the focus over the next few weeks will be to test how effectively Scalar handles the cost of subgraph lookup on the main network.

Once the subgraphs are fully synchronized and Scalar is deployed on the mainnet, Wave One partners will be able to test their dApps on the mainnet. After their QA process, they will be able to switch their production DAPP to the web, incuring query costs for indexers and delegators.

The road to Web3

Migrating a managed service subgraph to a graph network is an important step towards decentralizing the world's information. The Graph community is growing, with new projects being launched every week to help indexers, curators, and delegators contribute to The ecosystem. There are more than 172 indexers and more than 6500 Delegators participating in the network. To date, Graph has over 10,000 subgraphs deployed by some 16,000 developers on its hosted services.

On The Graph

The Graph is an indexing and querying layer for a decentralized network. Developers build and publish open APIs (called subgraphs) that applications can query using GraphQl. The Graph currently supports indexed data for Ethereum, IPFS, and POA, and will support more networks in The future.

If you are a developer building an application or a Web3 application, you can use subgraphs to index and query data from the blockchain. The Graph Foundation oversees The Graph Network, and The Graph Foundation is overseen by The Technology Council.
