Goldman Sachs, one of the world's largest banks, filed an application with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a new investment product on March 25, according to Blockbeats. The product will track the Ark Innovation ETF (ARKK), a managed ETF launched by Ark Investment that seeks long-term capital growth by investing primarily (at least 65% of assets) in equity securities of domestic and foreign companies that are related to the Fund's disruptive Innovation Investment theme.
And the Ark Innovation ETF invests in Grayscale, which means Goldman's clients could be indirectly exposed to bitcoin. The filing, dated March 19, is not for ETFs, but for a product that tracks ETFs linked to Bitcoin stocks, according to Goldman's filing.
Bitcoin ETFs, which allow investors to buy stocks representing digital assets, do not yet exist in the United States. Many companies are trying to launch such a service, including investment giantsFidelity investments, the company just filed for a Bitcoin ETF today. However, the SEC has been reluctant to approve these products in the past, citing concerns that the Bitcoin market is being manipulated.
