BM Returns to EOS: Bringing New Community Governance Proposals
Original source: Eosgo
I'm sure we all remember Dan's explosive departure from Block.one this year.
On January 10, 2021, Dan Larime announced his departure in a post on Hive, and shortly after announced that he was part of a new project, Clarion. This shocking revelation set off a ripple effect in the EOS community, leaving the future of EOS uncertain.
This week, the former CTO, who has officially left Block.one, began interacting with the community in the Telegraph Group and reorganizing his efforts to bring the EOS community back to its former glory.
EOS GO traces the whole process of BM's return to EOS. Let's have a look.
BM's return to the EOS community was both unexpected and understandable to many.
When he left Block.one, BM had stated that "I can't express my ideas in Block.one". Now that BM is no longer working at Block.one, he feels more free to interact with the community and express his ideas. So he rejoined several of EOS's telegraph groups, includingEOS,Everything EOS,EOS Price,BullishAnd about his upcoming projects.Clarion OS The new group.
"The reports that I am leaving the EOS community have been exaggerated. I look forward to working with the community to build a path for EOS to realize my original vision."Check out the original BM tweet
In order to help the community better organize their thoughts, BM has also prepared a new forum where people can freely discuss and post your first post. The name of the post isWhat does it mean to be a member of the EOS community?
"I believe that at the core of a strong community is a set of shared values, goals and identities, and that when we join a community, each of us contributes our part to building it.
When I first conceived EOS, I envisioned a community based on the principles of life, liberty, property, and equality and justice for all. I want to work with people to create a new mutual aid system where we use smart contracts to reduce disputes.
I stand here today hoping to unite a divided society and move forward together. I stand here and ask you to join me in making the EOS community the most enjoyable and fulfilling place to be. What do you look for in your community? How can you help make the EOS community the best it can be? "
Interested users can join the discussion forum and post your thoughts on the development of EOS.
According to BM, the work of reorganizing the EOS community will be carried out on the new roadmap, which can be developed by the community itself.
"I want to work with the community to build a community roadmap that incorporates the elements that B1 brings to the table, but allows us to move forward independently."
Amid the debate, community members talk of bringing together a team of developers from the EOS community, with new funding to support the team's development of parallel services provided by Block.one. That is, Block.one will be able to continue operating as it does now, bringing updates to the EOSIO software.
Then BM came up with a new one.Draft EOS Community Governance Proposal, the draft Outlines the process of vetting and appointing individuals to control the allocation of EOS tokens.
The new model of governance is based on concepts mentioned in his book "More Equal Creatures -- -- The Subtle Art of Real Democracy" and offers a more rigorous definition of what it means to be a member of a community:
Under the draft, to be invited by one existing member and confirmed by two other members, a new member must be approved by at least one elected official. In addition, an election is automatically triggered for every 10 percent increase in the community, and no new members can officially join until the election is over. Each election will allow each member to invite or endorse a maximum of 20 people and the election will be held at least once a year.
As for this system, the BM text says:
"At the beginning of each election, all members are randomly assigned to groups of 10, and the members of each group who receive 80 percent of the votes become the first-level elected officials. Then, all first-level officials are randomly assigned to groups of 10 and again vote for the second-level elected officials according to the above rules. This process is repeated until there are fewer than 10 members.
The final group of delegates (smaller than 10) will elect 1 President and 2 Co-Vice-Presidents according to the 2/3+1 voting rule. In this way, there are three people who together constitute the foundation of governance (the Big Three).
Any action taken by the Big Three must be approved by the president and at least one vice president. "
After BM shared her governance ideas, many people felt very confused and said: "Adding a complex invitation mechanism to the EOS community will help improve the quality of community members, but the threshold to join EOS will also be greatly raised. Is it really good for EOS?"
"As the founder of EOS, I believe no one knows EOS better than BM, and BM has said that his original intention is to mobilize the community to make EOS the best community possible. I am looking forward to it."
