A new proposal: Why does EIP-3298 lower Gas rates?

Read this article in 8 Minutes
In addition to EIP-1559, there are many ways to lower your Gas bill.

So what's SELFDESTRUCT?

Self-destruct operating SELFDESTRUCT (EIP6 called suicide) before the function is to allow people to remove the old or unused contracts to clean block chain, the operating system will provide the Gas refund, motivate users delete release resources storage state, remove intelligent contract does not remove contract before the transaction records of history, block chain itself does not change.

Twitter ID & have spent@n2ckchong  Traders at NBSP; Nick Chong  It further explains how SELFDESTRUCT affects Gas costs and why Gas costs have dropped significantly since the V god update proposal.

Rhythm has compiled and translated Nick Chong's tweets as follows:

Every transaction on Ethereum currently requires a Gas charge. Usually, the more complex the transaction, the more Gas the transaction consumes. The SELFDESTRUCT is an EVM-level opcode that sends the balance of the contract to the "address". It is also unique in that executing opcodes directly destroys the contract, but EVM actually helps the node manage State size by giving the user a fee to eliminate State bloat.

This may not sound like much fun, but some clever developers have realized that you can keep the cheap state space alive by storing Gas charges in your contract when Gas prices are low.

The simple way to store it is to mint or buy Gas tokens when they are cheap, such as GST and the 1Inch team's Chi, and then destroy the tokens when the Gas rate fluctuates.

Rally note: Gas Token transforms a Gas fee Token into an ERC20 Token, allowing users to buy and sell it directly or as a pre-payment for future use of Gas. Customers can buy and store Gas when prices are low, and then use it when prices are high.

Specifically, when Gas prices are low, GAS tokens encourage users to create or mint tokens GST1/GST2 into contracts, where GAS tokens will store data/create contracts with user-provided funds at a lower cost. When Gas prices shoot up, the user can use or consume GST1/GST2, and the Gas token will consume Gas at a lower price by deleting the data or contract (SELFDESTRUCT) and getting a network reward or Gas refund.

This explains why many arbitrage trades on Etherscan, the Ethereum browser, have "self-destruct contract 0x..." before viewing the transaction details. The prompt.

That's a smart way to do it.

When an arbitrage bot in operation is spending thousands of dollars a day on Ethereum transactions, they can save a lot of money over time by using Gas tokens to save on procedural fees.

Some believe that the existence of Gas tokens has led to considerable state inflation because many "meaningless" contracts were injected into Ethereum nodes when Gas coins were cheap. By increasing the state expansion, the ratio of tertiary blocks may increase.

This is probably why Vitalik suggested yesterday that the Gas refund rule for Selfdestruct be removed from the London upgrade.

Anyway, thanks to this proposal from V God, after this proposal was issued, Gas costs dropped significantly and returned to a more normal level. Gas fee token CHI and GST token prices also saw a plunge: CHI dropped 40% and GST 30%.

Once the proposal is formally implemented, these tokens may quickly become useless, so there may be no incentive for users to cast a CHI or GST.
