The network token THETA is up 180% in two weeks.

Rhythm BlockBeats news, the decentralized video network Theta Network's native token THETA rose from $0.86 to $1.92 in two weeks, an increase of 180%, and even surpassed BTC at one point. The reason for the sharp rise in tokens may be related to the release of the Theta Mainnet 3.0 roadmap.

Theta previously announced plans to launch Mainnet 3.0 (Theta Mainnet 3.0) in the spring of 2021. The protocol upgrade enables the network to capture live video and enables live streaming, in addition to viewing other video on the platform. The development team behind Mainnet 3.0 explained that the "EdgeCast" technology will allow live streaming without a central server. Team Explained: A new fully decentralized technology stack adds the ability to capture live video, transcode in real time, cache and forward live streaming video data to users around the globe - all via Theta's P2P edge network, powered by a community of thousands Members run. No centralized servers or services are used in this path. ”

The two main components in this mainnet release are the introduction of Elite Edge nodes and TFuel burns. Simply put, Elite Edge nodes tokenize internet bandwidth. By bonding Theta Fuel (Tfuel), another native token of the Theta blockchain, users can earn more Tfuel.

Other developments in the project may also be responsible for the sharp rise in its token. For example, on December 19, 2020, Theta disclosed the Theta Wallet Chrome extension on the Google Chrome website. This allows users to use wallets such as Metamask that interact with the Meta platform. Prior to this, Theta completed a key protocol upgrade on December 11 and released smart contracts on the mainnet.
