South Korean wallet service Childly conducted a survey of more than 5,700 cryptocurrency users worldwide, BlockBeats reported. The results showed that 48 per cent of respondents strongly agreed with a tax on cryptocurrencies, saying a digital asset tax was a "must". Eighteen percent of participants said they supported an encryption tax, with the proviso that it be set at an "acceptable level."
However, 20 per cent of respondents disagreed with the current tax on cryptographic assets and 9 per cent thought it was "premature" to tax the cryptographic industry and needed more time to consider the appropriate obligations of the sector. Eleven per cent of respondents said they totally disagreed with the tax, saying a "new approach" to digital assets was needed.
"While many countries have started taxing digital assets, those demanding smarter enforcement of tax rules should be heard at all levels," said Eunti Kim, chief executive of Childly.
(pulse note: the survey sample may have limitations that do not represent the views of all cryptocurrency users.)
