Consensus has again cut more than 90 jobs to keep key operations positions

Consensus, best known for incubating ethereum, will lay off "more than 90 people," a brooklyn-based spokesman confirmed Monday, according to beat BlockBeats. That's about 14 percent of the company's work force.

A company spokesman said: "the global COVID - 19 pandemic have health and life of the world had a profound effect. ConsenSys carefully analyses the business relationships with the global situation. Like most peers, the company has seen the great uncertainty of the market, companies to adjust the priorities, and to review the schedule."

Consensus announced a round of layoffs in February, as previously reported by pulse. The cuts also reduced the company's work force by about 14 percent, the company said at the time. Figures show that consensus's workforce, which was likely just under 850 at the start of the year, now stands at just over 550. "We have retained all key operational aspects of our business to ensure the development and service of key products and solutions," the company said in a statement. The affected workers will receive two months 'severance pay and career-change services, ConsenSys said.

Under the leadership of ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, ConsenSys conducted a restructuring called "consensus 2.0" in late 2018, cutting about 13% of its workforce. The February 2020 reduction is related to this change in strategy.
