"Landing difficulty" seems to be a problem that every blockchain project cannot get around.
So why are so few people using and experiencing blockchain apps in real life?
According to BlockBeats, there are two main reasons. One is the lack of hard enough real demand. People are used to today's Internet applications, and this inertia, rooted in the mind, makes killer applications difficult to come by. Second, there is not enough convenient user experience. When using blockchain applications, users need to know cryptocurrency, key, wallet and other relevant knowledge in advance, and the threshold of market education is too high.
For example, if you want to make a social application on the block chain, users' behaviors on the software will be measured and motivated in the form of cryptocurrency, such as thumb up, comments and forwarding can get token rewards in the ecosystem. However, there is a very tricky problem at this point. In the traditional blockchain application mode, the behavior on these chains requires the user to pay a fee to confirm the operation, which will bring a very embarrassing situation: the user must pay a certain amount of cryptocurrency every time he posts or forwards a text on the software.
In fact, the user would not be willing to pay for it, because without a deep understanding of blockchain and cryptocurrency, he would assume that the company behind the product, not the blockchain miner (or node service provider), charged the fee. Nor will users have an incentive to top up and buy highly volatile cryptocurrencies as a means of payment in order to experience a new piece of software.
In short, this is not only a violation of current Internet user habits, but also makes users have to understand the operating principle behind the block chain and cryptocurrency, and more contrary to human nature, good products should be subordinated to the "lazy" human nature.
But there are already people in the industry thinking about it. The Gas Station Network (GSN) project in ethereum's ecosystem is dedicated to providing users with a fuel-free user experience through relay node subsidies. In previous ETH Boston hackathon activities, some developers extended the idea of GSN to DAI system and developed the gDAI model without ETH transfer DAI.
Many readers may wonder why such a clever mechanism has not been widely used.
Actually, GSN doesn't solve all the problems. Due to the existence of relay node (relay party), GSN must guarantee the node not to do evil through soft economic penalty measures, which creates the risk of middle man. In addition, GSN does not support the transaction sender to freely choose the fuel payer, which can only be paid by a specific group, which is essentially a limited fee payment mechanism.
BlockBeats found that the old blockchain project chain seems to have great insight on this issue, and found a reasonable solution. According to the white paper of the latest edition of vips, it has added a fee payment mechanism to its technical design, and has launched two payment mechanism protocols: multi-party payment protocol (MPP) and designated payment protocol (vip-191).
The multi-party payment protocol (MPP) allows an account on a chain to pay transaction fees for transactions sent from a specified account to that account. MPP is mainly for DApp owners who have multiple contract accounts on the chain. In the agreement, only the DApp owner can set the MPP for their contract. Since MPP needs to record related information on the chain, there will be some indirect costs. Therefore, from the perspective of cost, MPP protocol is more suitable for the scenario where there is a relatively stable relationship between users and DApp.
Blocks are mentioned in the article on the chain, for example, social class DApp, users in the viscosity is stronger, after molding, products daily with the demand of the interaction, and this kind of interaction in the chain, if there are no more payment protocol (MPP) is very tedious, users need to their own behavior in DApp pay for fuel, can greatly improve the user relationship, conversely for such DApp ground application.
As a supplement to the multi-party payment protocol (MPP), the designated payment protocol (vip-191) provides greater flexibility for transaction fee payment on a chain-only basis. Vip-191 allows the transaction sender to seek out any fee payer without necessarily being the contract owner to whom the transaction is directed. In other words, users don't have to choose the DApp or the application to pay for the fuel, but have a variety of options.
In contrast, the designated agency payment protocol (vip-191) returns control of the trigger protocol to the transaction sender and does not require the sender to pay any indirect costs. However, the designated payment protocol (vip-191) requires both the sender of the transaction and the transaction fee payer to remain online when sending the transaction, while the multi-party payment protocol (MPP) is not required.
Therefore, when transparency of fuel payment and stability of user relationship are more important, multi-party payment protocol (MPP) is a better choice. When flexibility of user choice is more important, specifying the payment protocol (vip-191) may be better.
Obviously, GSN and chain mechanism of expenses paid only the functions are similar, but many: efficiency, poor availability GSN use process need multiple online (contracts) and offline (and replay party) the interaction of the link, and only the cost of the chain collecting mechanism is implemented in the underlying consensus, only users to send transactions, efficiency, and eliminate the risk of the middleman. In addition, because GSN has contract operations, it will consume more fuel.
"Chain only expenses paid mechanism, expanding application scenario is based on the real economy in the past few years exploration, summed up in the user experience, in the existing application scenario can be optimized and only chain embedding such function block chain in the underlying code, can greatly shorten the developers to DApp optimization operation, in a shorter time to provide users with more efficient user experience." In an interview, the technical director of weichang told BlockBeats.

In other words, in the development of blockchain, the technology path must be developed with the application scenario, while the application scenario is generated with the user demand. If there is no appropriate application scenario, even if there is a fee payment mechanism, the implementation of blockchain technology will be difficult.
No amount of theoretical technology if not landing is also empty talk, only the cost of the chain of payment mechanism has quietly had an example. Vichain.com recently announced a strategic partnership with vichain.com's ecosystem project, 8Hours, to provide ordinary users with a blockchain gaming experience similar to that of web2.0 online games by realizing smooth transactions of its "non-homogeneous tokens" (NFT) on the blockchain.
Behind this smooth transaction is the chain-only fee payment mechanism, that is, users no longer need to hold cryptocurrency, so they can experience the interesting blockchain games and enjoy the fun of NFT games.
8 hours, for example, the game platform game characters, equipment, it can be seen as a NFT, when users to upgrade game role and equipment was conducted by calling the intelligent contract, but call smart contracts need to consume only chain platform VTHO (similar to that of the gas on the Ethernet fang, VET can automatically generate VTHO).
Through the linked fee mechanism, game developers can designate an account to pay for VTHO, even during the free trial phase of the game, through the game developer's own account, and then by charging users legit money to make a profit. On the one hand, it provides the ordinary players with the same smooth game experience, and on the other hand, it guarantees the normal revenue and operation of the game.
No wonder a senior figure working in a blockchain research institution said: "the chants-only payment mechanism is perfect, and it was the first to be invested into the market. NFT must have a future, but the current user threshold is still too high. The only thing we need to observe is whether it can be popularized for real use."
BlockBeats may not be so optimistic. After all, the development of blockchain is still a new thing today. We dare not claim that the NFT market combined with the fee payment mechanism will definitely take off. But at least we know for sure that NFT has a high probability of being the next battleground for blockchain breakout. However, there is still too much preparation for this battlefield. The biggest problem is that it is too difficult to use, which has something to do with the complex mechanism of blockchain and cryptocurrency. The combination of NFT and the fee-paying mechanism helps to show its true power.
Block until today in development of chain should be detached technical thinking, how can let ⽤ door convenient ⽆ senses to make ⽤ is the key to the ones with broken, and only the cost of the chain payment mechanism is the first ⼀ of thinking to the business practices should be ⽤ block chain ⽬, with a strong innovative and forward-looking.
From now on, you may start to think seriously about a problem: how to make mobile interconnection ⽹ ⽤ ⽆ seam cutting into blocks ⼊ chain?
In other words, any design that can answer this question will win the favor of the market. Pure technical innovation can only be called innovation, while the real radical is often born at the product level. The arrival of the fee payment mechanism will be a necessary and insufficient condition for the implementation of the block chain.
