EDF, one of the world's biggest electric companies, is working with iExec, an ethereum application, on a new test

Coindesk (Coindesk)reportsEDF, one of the world's largest electric companies, is working with ethereum application iExec on a new test.

EDF is the world's fifth-largest power company, with a market capitalisation of $33bn. The company released GPUSPH, a visualization simulator, on ethereum's decentralized application, or Dapp, iExec.

EDF is trying to determine whether ethereum can add benefits to the simulator, which normally runs on a GPU.

Launched in 2016, iExec is an extension of a decade-old research project and one of the longer-running ethereum applications. IExec is designed to explore cloud computing concepts on the blockchain. While the cloud is currently dominated by big companies such as Amazon, they are trying to move the computing side of the cloud to ethereum.
