OpenAI launches large-scale account suspension campaign without prior email notification.

BlockBeats news, November 7 — According to community feedback, multiple users today reported that their ChatGPT/OpenAI accounts were suddenly deactivated (account_deactivated), with login directly showing "You do not have an account because it has been deleted or deactivated," and most without prior email notification.

It is worth noting that on November 4, Cat Wu, product lead for Claude Code and Cowork, announced her departure from Anthropic to join OpenAI.

However, unlike Anthropic, this wave of mass account purges by OpenAI includes free API accounts, team shared accounts, and even the $200-per-month Pro tier. Some users even claimed that their five-year-old Pro accounts were deactivated without warning and without email. One developer lamented that years of accumulated conversation history and personal memories were all locked in the cloud and could not be retrieved.
