BlockBeats news, November 6th — Following yesterday's epic correction in the U.S. stock market's AI sector, a host of previously highly profitable "stock gurus" now face their ultimate test.
According to earlier CNBC reporting citing sources, "AI stock guru" Leopold's Situational Awareness had already re-entered the options market in mid-September, re-purchasing options on underlying assets including AMD (AMD), Bloom Energy (BE), CoreWeave (CREV), SK Hynix (SKHY), SanDisk (SNDK), and the DRAM ETF (DRAM).
Community disclosures indicate that Situational Awareness's position structure consists mostly of call spreads — buying lower strike prices and selling higher strike prices — with total premium of approximately $315 million. Comparing price movements, if its positions remained unchanged during this period, the current market value of these positions likely retains only minimal residual time value (expiry in January, assuming January 2027, roughly 2 months from now), far from sufficient to cover the $315 million in premium already paid.
Additionally, another "white-haired stock guru" Serenity, who rose to prominence through AI stock investments, had already publicly announced significant losses in late October. According to screenshots of their tweets, as of October 22nd, their personal account had suffered a major drawdown, with a single-period loss of approximately $13.58 million.
They have not updated their profit/loss status since then, but based on Serenity's latest tweets continuously publicly following/mentioning, it is expected their holdings still mainly include AI hardware upstream "bottleneck" names such as LITE, AAOI, MRVL, SIVE, COHR, and NVDA, which broadly declined 10-22% during the AI stock pullback from late October to early November.
