Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton publicly called on the new Congress to hold Musk accountable.

BlockBeats news, November 6 — Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently made a clear statement on the ABC program "The View," calling on the new Congress to immediately hold Musk and others accountable after taking office in January next year. She accused the individuals involved of "manipulating data to try to influence decisions," and stressed that the government must take action and cannot let them go unpunished.

"People like Elon Musk — we need the government to take action. I advocate that starting with the new Congress in January, these people should be held accountable. They cannot evade responsibility by manipulating data to try to influence decisions."

In terms of background, Musk previously donated approximately $290 million to Republican candidates and related causes in the 2024 election, and spent approximately $470 million in this midterm election cycle to support Republicans. After Trump won the election, he appointed Musk as a senior advisor and co-leader of the "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE, which was officially dissolved in July 2025). Democrats had previously been preparing investigations into Musk-related matters, which may involve conflicts of interest in federal contracts, data access and layoff impacts during DOGE, and issues such as the X platform algorithm.

Trump has previously stated that he would take measures to protect Musk if necessary (including discussions of a potential pardon), but presidential pardon power mainly targets federal criminal offenses and can hardly directly block congressional oversight, subpoenas, or hearings.

The new Congress is expected to officially take office in January 2027. At that time, Democratic-led committees (such as the House Oversight Committee, etc.) may initiate related hearings and document requests.

Musk is betting on the Trump administration, much like he once bet on Twitter.
「Trump's so-called loyalty is merely demanding unwavering loyalty from others; while Musk's friendship ultimately also needs to bow to the calculation of interests.」
