BlockBeats news, November 6 - According to security firm Blockaid, the Reth execution client and its derivative client op-reth have a state root calculation error, affecting some EVM blockchains including multiple OP Stack chains. Unpatched nodes may experience synchronization stalls or return incorrect state proofs (eth_getProof). This issue is a client correctness defect, not a known attack event, and no fund losses have been found so far.
Reth merged the fix code on November 3. The fixed versions include reth v2.10.0, op-reth v2.8.1, and Base node-reth v1.5.3. As a preventive measure, LayerZero has paused the off-chain infrastructure of some affected chains, causing delays in related cross-chain messages, but they will not be lost; some protocols have also paused deposits or cross-chain routing. Blockaid recommends that relevant node operators and RPC service providers upgrade as soon as possible.
