BlockBeats news, November 5 — Google recently released the November 2026 Android Security Bulletin, patching over 200 vulnerabilities in total. The most severe is CVE-2026-58868 (Critical) in the Framework component, an out-of-bounds write vulnerability caused by a heap buffer overflow, located in the onOutputReceived function of FrameDecoder.cpp.
This vulnerability allows attackers to remotely execute arbitrary code without user interaction and without additional privileges, making it a typical zero-click attack. Upon successful exploitation, an attacker could gain full control of affected devices. Currently, Google has not confirmed any in-the-wild exploitation, nor has any public proof-of-concept (PoC) been seen. Affected versions include Android 14, 15, 16, 16 QPR2, and 17. Patches are being pushed at two levels:
· Security patch level ≥ 2026-11-01: already includes fixes for CVE-2026-58868 and other Framework and System component issues;
· Security patch level ≥ 2026-11-05: covers all vulnerabilities in this round, including kernel and chipset-level issues from MediaTek, Qualcomm, and others.
SlowMist CISO 23pds stated that if this vulnerability is exploited in the wild, the impact would be extremely severe. Android devices account for about 70% of smartphones worldwide, and large-scale exploitation could lead to widespread device compromise. Users are advised to immediately check and upgrade their systems: go to "Settings → About phone → Android version" and confirm whether the "Security patch level" has reached 2026-11-05 or higher. Device manufacturers may push updates at different times, so it is recommended to prioritize upgrading to the full patch level.
