First Spot PEPE ETF on the Horizon? Canary Advanced Listing Application This Month

BlockBeats news, October 28 — U.S. asset management firm Canary Capital submitted an S-1 registration statement for the Canary PEPE ETF to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on April 8, 2026, and filed an amended document (S-1/A) on October 2. The fund intends to directly hold PEPE tokens and plans to list on the Cboe BZX trading platform, with custodians including BitGo, among others.

This application is one of the moves by issuers to bring meme coins into regulated products following the approval of spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. The amended filing specifies details including the trust structure, investment objective (to provide exposure to the price of PEPE net of operating expenses), and the size of issuance baskets, but the SEC has not yet declared the registration statement effective, nor has it made an approval decision. There is currently no fixed approval deadline, and the market expects further developments may occur, but the approval outcome remains uncertain.

Although news of the ETF application has repeatedly drawn market attention and driven PEPE price fluctuations at certain times, as of now the product remains in the regulatory review stage, and investors are not yet able to obtain spot PEPE exposure through traditional securities accounts. Continued attention should be paid to subsequent SEC filing updates and the final decision.

As previously reported, Justin Sun traded PEPE again after two years, and the associated address currently holds a total of 11.8 trillion PEPE, with an average withdrawal price of $0.000004114.
