BlockBeats news, October 22 - WordPress officially issued a security alert stating that the PHP project has released a security update. Due to the severity of the vulnerability's impact, website owners are advised to update PHP immediately and contact their hosting providers to confirm the deployment of patches and the implementation of Web Application Firewall (WAF) mitigation rules.
Users can check the current PHP version running on their website through the WordPress backend under "Tools> Site Health> Info> Server." Versions prior to PHP 8.2 no longer receive official security updates. For websites still running older versions and managing their own servers, if immediate remediation cannot be completed, the official recommendation is to consider temporarily taking the server offline until the vulnerability is effectively mitigated. WordPress emphasized that this vulnerability is not unique to its platform but affects servers running PHP applications.
