BlockBeats news, October 21 - Zcash developers have reached a consensus on the NU7 upgrade, planning to activate it at block height 3,543,405 (expected around November 5). This upgrade will reduce the block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, tripling the transaction confirmation speed; simultaneously, 60% of the fees collected per block will be removed from circulation and are planned to be returned to miners starting February 2031, while maintaining the original block reward halving schedule during this period.
Additionally, Zcash's original privacy system Sprout will be completely shut down after the upgrade, and funds not transferred in time will become unusable. Currently, this proposal was put forward by developer Sean Bowe and agreed upon by the Zcash Improvement Proposal (ZIP) editorial team, but it still needs to be formally merged into the deployment specification and integrated into the node software before it can officially take effect.
