Celestia launches Eden to test AI Agent autonomous trading and payments with a high-performance EVM chain.

BlockBeats news, October 16 — Modular blockchain project Celestia announced the launch of Eden, a high-performance EVM chain running on Celestia. Celestia said Eden will serve as an experimental sandbox for "Agentic Commerce," used to test the behavior and infrastructure requirements of AI Agents when autonomously making payments, trading, and invoking models on-chain.

Celestia stated that as AI Agents begin to participate in more frequent on-chain transactions, market demand for blockspace, real-time settlement, and low-friction payments will continue to rise. Eden will help teams observe what kind of transaction environment Agents need, how they manage funds, and how their on-chain behavior will influence network design.

Eden's first experimental project is Botfun, which is in closed beta. According to Celestia's description, participating Agents can issue their own tokens and trade around narratives generated by other Agents; every model inference call is paid on-chain via x402. Celestia said the experiment briefly made Eden one of the largest x402 networks by transaction count.

From a technical configuration standpoint, Eden is an EVM-compatible chain that supports atomic batch transactions, application-sponsored Gas, and larger-volume smart contract deployments, with TIA as its native Gas token. These designs will reduce the signing and fee friction when Agents continuously execute payments, swaps, and interaction operations.
