US PPI and retail sales data to be released tonight; rising energy costs may continue to pass through to the corporate side.

BlockBeats news, October 15, at 20:30 Beijing time tonight, the United States will release September PPI and retail sales data, known as the "terror data."

From market expectations, the market currently expects September headline PPI to rise 0.6% month-on-month, significantly higher than 0.4% in August; core PPI is expected to rise 0.3% month-on-month. If the released data meets expectations, it indicates that price pressures on the U.S. production side continue to intensify. Bill Adams, chief U.S. economist at Fifth Third Commercial Bank, believes that if this PPI reading is strong, it may further increase the likelihood of a Federal Reserve rate hike in October.

Energy costs may still be an important driving factor for PPI. Recently, crude oil, gasoline, and diesel prices have been at high levels, while transportation, logistics, and manufacturing are more sensitive to energy costs, so the impact on the production side is usually more direct than on consumer prices. If September headline PPI reaches 0.6% month-on-month, it indicates that rising energy costs are still being passed through to businesses.

Investors are focusing on the extent to which energy prices are being transmitted to the production side, as well as the impact on the resilience of U.S. consumption, which may change Fed rate hike pricing and cause market volatility.
