BlockBeats news, October 13 - Marvell has released its second-generation Structera X 3406 and 3506 CXL memory expanders, with a single controller supporting up to 9TB DDR4 or 6TB DDR5 memory, and a 50% increase in the number of memory channels compared to the previous generation. The new products adopt CXL 3.2 technology, support up to four hosts sharing memory resources, with host interconnect bandwidth up to 256GB/s, and a built-in LZ4 compression engine with compression and decompression throughput up to 250GB/s, a 5-fold improvement over the previous generation.
Marvell stated that the new products are designed to alleviate memory capacity and bandwidth bottlenecks in large model inference. In specific large model inference scenarios, they can reduce first-byte response time by 40% to 50%; in deep learning recommendation model scenarios, the queries per second per controller can be increased by up to 2 times. Companies such as AMD, Arm, Alibaba, Samsung, and SK Hynix are participating in related ecosystem collaborations. The two products are expected to provide samples to customers in the first quarter of 2027.
